Position Description: Serve as lead for regional interventions and liaison to government entities and partner projects; provide technical assistance to improve, adapt, and sustain the quality and effectiveness of SBCC strategies and interventions in (Lake/Western, North/Central and Southern) Region. Reports to Chief of Party.
Essential job functions- Duties and Responsibilities:
• Serve as team lead for intervention planning and implementation in (Lake/Western, North/Central and Southern) Region, including liaising with government entities and NGOs in the area, adapting SBCC strategies and intervention plans to meet the specific needs and realities of the region.
• Attend and support coordination and planning meetings hosted by the government and donors of program in (Lake/Western, North/Central and Southern) Region.
• Assist and support government and other project partners in the design and implementation of SBCC interventions, in designated areas: Family Planning/Reproductive Health (FP/RH), Maternal, Newborn, Child and Adolescent Health (MNCAH), Malaria, Human Immunodeficiency Virus/Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (HIV/AIDS), Tuberculosis (TB).
• Provide technical assistance to the government agencies to develop and strengthen SBCC strategies in defined health areas, ensuring high level of technical quality, drawing on global evidence.
• Collaborate with partner projects to ensure that SBCC strategies and activities are well integrated with health services and other related interventions.
• Collaborate and undertake technical coordination with technical officers of other local and international agencies working in the area, as appropriate. Establish and maintain good relationships with all partners working in the region.
• Contribute to work plans, quarterly and annual reports, financial reports and budgets, and other reports and papers summarizing project results and evidence.
Minimum requirements standards:
• Master's Degree or higher in public health, international development, SBCC, social science, or a related field required;
• Experience as team leader for a project in Family Planning/Reproductive Health (FP/RH), Maternal, Newborn, Child and Adolescent Health (MNCAH), Malaria, Human Immunodeficiency Virus/Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (HIV/AIDS), Tuberculosis (TB).
• Knowledge of state of the art SBCC models and strategies, preferably including mHealth, and their practical application.
• Knowledge of Tanzanian communication environment, social and cultural norms.
• Experience in developing and implementing SBCC projects and programs in Tanzania.
• Experience with a USG contract or cooperative agreement preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to create and maintain effective working relations with government personnel, stakeholders, NGO partners, and international donor agencies.
• Strong interpersonal communication, writing and oral presentation skills in English.
• Ability to utilize communication research findings and disseminate to non-research audiences;
• Ability to work independently and working as a member of high performance team.
• Relevant computer software skills, including at a minimum, MS Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
• Ability to travel within Tanzania
