Baylor College of Medicine Children’s Foundation – Tanzania (Baylor Tanzania) is a Non Government Organization dedicated to supporting the provision of high quality comprehensive HIV/AIDS care and treatment to HIV infected children and adolescents in the Lake and Southern Highland Zones of Tanzania through service delivery, training and research. Baylor Tanzania is part of the Baylor International Pediatric AIDS Initiative (BIPAI) Clinical Centre of Excellence network which is headquartered at the Baylor College of Medicine, Houston, Texas USA.
Position Summary:
Provide technical expertise in project activities strategy development and implementation.
Duties and Responsibilities
Providing education and mentorship to medical trainees regarding pediatric HIV/AIDS care
Develop/adopt relevant materials to support field activities
Supervise project trained Health workers, TOTs and Mentors
Providing technical assistance to health care providers in pediatric and general HIV/AIDS prevention, diagnosis, care, treatment and complications both within the COE and outside facilities
Actively participating in CME activities and other meetings in all clinical and educational settings
Contribute effectively on planning monitoring and reporting activities of the project
Develop work plans, organize meetings, trainings and support in the compilation of activity reports according to monthly, quarterly and annual work plan.
Liaise with Regional and District level administration, regional HIV implementing partners in bringing forward Pediatric HIV agenda.
Participate actively in Resource mobilization and grant proposal writing.
Participate and contribute to researches in the process of result dissemination.
Support National, regional and district stakeholder planning meeting for capacity building.
Other specific tasks as assigned by supervisor
Qualifications / Skills
Holder of a Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree or Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery/Chirurgery (MBCHB) from an accredited institution
Registered by the Tanganyika Medical Council as a Medical Doctor having completed internship with at least two years Hands on experience /exposure in project activity implementation
Familiarity with general HIV care and treatment
Familiarity with word processing and spreadsheet computer programs
Good organization skills- planning and implementation.
