The World Food Programme is the world's largest humanitarian agency, fighting hunger worldwide. We are currently seeking to fill an internship in the Individual Performance Strengthening Branch of the Human Resources Division. The position will be based at our Headquarters in Rome, Italy and will be for a period of four months starting as soon as possible.

Within the Human Resources Division, the Individual Performance Strengthening Branch is a key partner in the achievement of WFP's strategic objectives. This branch focuses on strategies and tools that support the alignment, engagement and performance management of the staff in the organization.

In order to enhance the service provided to a highly diverse global workforce, working in very challenging contexts, the Individual Performance Strengthening Branch is revising the tools and support mechanisms available for Staff Members and Supervisors in this area.

Description

The selected candidate will be working in a project team within the WFP Individual Performance Strengthening Branch and assisting with the following key duties:

• Contribute to increase staff engagement through collaborating on the Global Staff Survey follow up efforts, assisting Country Offices and Units rolling out and discussing the results;
• Assist with projects and initiatives to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of WFP's worldwide Performance Management practices;
• Assist with designing and supporting the rollout of new tools and procedures related to Performance Strengthening; including contributing toward communication plans and ensuring a high level of engagement for all Performance Strengthening initiatives;
• Contribute in the team to improve the practices of rewards and recognitions, including assisting with piloting new schemes and models;
• Contribute to additional initiatives and/ or campaigns managed by the Branch. Work with other colleagues in the team in order to improve existing resources, and to identify and develop new resources.

Additionally, the selected candidate will be required to assist with some of the other duties of the department which are related to Performance Management.

Essential Requirements

• Have recently graduated from University with a top BA or (preferably) MA degree in Human Resources, Communications, International Relations, Legal or other related field;
• Fluent in English;
• Have attended courses in the last 12 months;
• Knowledge of one of the following languages: Spanish, Portuguese, French, Arabic or Russian would be an asset;
• Must have excellent writing skills in order to assist with producing a range of communications and marketing material, from corporate brochures to colourful campaigns;
• Must have a good understanding of Microsoft Office, including being an advanced excel user;
• Must have excellent organisation skills, including the ability to work to tight deadlines and prioritise a hefty workload;
• Initiative, sound judgment and demonstrated ability to work harmoniously with staff members of different national and cultural backgrounds.
