Programme Officer - Extractives – Grade 2

This type of position may attract people who are interested in advocacy issues surrounding the extractives sector in Tanzania particularly in mining and oil and gas. We expect the Programme Officer, with support of the Policy Analysis Manager, to liaising with other stakeholders in the extractives sector in Tanzania and build relationships that further the objectives of the Policy Forum network.

Responsibilities:
- Developing an in-depth understanding of and expertise in the extractives industries in Tanzania, particularly in mining, oil and gas sectors in order to support Policy Forum’s members in their advocacy.
· Assisting the Policy Analysis Manager in the development and implementation of advocacy strategies on the extractive industries in Tanzania.
· Assisting the Policy Analysis Manager in research related to transparency in the extractives industries.
· Compiling inputs from members and other CSOs and producing reports on a regular basis.
· Liaising with the CSO Extractives Industries Working Group to determine the support they can provide PF members and vice versa.
· Support Policy Analysis Manager to strategically engage with stakeholders identified by PF secretariat or Board of Directors.
- Support the Monitoring and Evaluation Manager to coordinate lesson-learning.
Technical skills and experiences that we are seeking:
- Bachelor Degree or comparable experience in social sciences, journalism, law, public policy, governance, or a related field Demonstrated ability to design and managing evaluation or research projects.
- Awareness of and demonstrated interest in critical issues in the Tanzanian policy environment at local and national level.
- Good basic analytical skills.
- Ability to function well in teams and to work productively in a multidisciplinary environment with diverse groups of people.
- Good communication skills, verbally and in writing, in Kiswahili and English.
- Basic IT skills – Office systems, presentations, extensive use of the internet for research.
- Demonstrated interest in working with civil society in Tanzania on policy issues
