This globally celebrated British organisation is seeking an exceptional senior director to lead the evolution of its transformational work in Sub-Saharan Africa. With a breadth of activity across the region already realising a broad range of programmes in such areas as English, Education, Government Reform, Civil Society and the Arts, the organisation has been a ubiquitous force for good for well over half a century. At this exciting time of change and of increasing investment in overseas development, they are seeking an inspirational leader to shape their engagement with this priority region and to develop and define the on-going delivery model for this exciting new era.
As a key senior figure in the global leadership team, you would be responsible for strategically reassessing the contemporary market context in Sub-Saharan Africa. You would also be responsible for shaping a regionally relevant resource structure and operating model, and would bring both a fresh, current perspective and clear, inspirational vision to the region.
This is an opportunity to shape the very nature of this organisation’s engagement with the region, working at the strategic heart of their global leadership team, creating an inspirational vision for the future which will affect lives for generations to come.
Desired Skills and Experience
Experience of effectively leading geographically dispersed workforces will be essential, as will a successful track record of leading management teams in the achievement of stretching targets within complex organisational matrices. Strategic prioritisation skills and exceptional analytical ability are also key prerequisites, as are the personal resilience, flexibility and determination to succeed within this varied, ever-changing and demanding region. As well as being an inspirational leader, ideally, you would have experience of leading multi-country business operations in fields relating to any of their areas of activity within the Sub-Saharan Africa region, but as a minimum, you would need either the regional context expertise, orexpertise in any of these areas of operation.
