IREX is looking to hire a senior media consultant with knowledge and experience from reporting on the extractive industries, in particular the oil and gas sector, to mentor a group of Mozambican journalists in in-depth reporting on issues related to the sector. This includes teaching methods to improve reporting on the technical, political and social aspects of the sector, as well as enhancing the ability to analyze the economic, social and political implications of legislation and investments in the sector. The media consultant will accompany journalists in the newsrooms and in the field and will focus on practical and contextual learning.
The selected candidate will be hired for an initial 3-month period, starting in January 2014. The consultant must have deep knowledge of the extractive industry, proven experience as a trainer and proficiency in Portuguese (written and spoken).
