The International Labor Organization (ILO) office in Tanzania seeks the services of qualified and experienced individuals to promote the decent work agenda in Tanzania. The positions are as follows:
Specific Responsibilities
Coordination, planning and implementation of school-to-work transition surveys (SWTS) in the selected countries, both on technical and administrative financial sides.
Strengthening capacities and assistance to the ILO partners involved in the project: assisting in design of sampling frames; adaptation of survey questionnaires; providing training on data entry and tabulation, if needed.
Organize hiring of final report writers of the SWTS in each country covered by the project and oversee production of reports.
Develop partnerships with Government Ministries (especially Ministry of Labor and National Statistical Offices), employers' organizations and trade unions, civil society organizations, including youth organizations, research institutions and various United Nations agencies.
Technical support, advice, and coaching provided to the tripartite partners to ensure that capacities- both functional and substantive _ are in built to enable them to carry out their mandates and functions more effectively.
Adapt ILO global tools to national circumstances, as well as apply them and monitor their application.
Prepare, manage and keep up to date a finance and administration system that facilitates a proper reporting and effective interface with the administration and finance system of the ILO.
Develop a knowledge management and sharing strategy of the programme, including information materials and research. Perform other tasks related to project objectives as requested by the ILO Country Office Director.
Education:
Advanced university degree in Statistics or Economics with a specialization in quantitative techniques (preferably in statistics) or any other degree considered equivalent
Languages:Excellent command of English is required.
Experience:The candidate should have at least Three years relevant experience in the design, the collection and the analysis of statistical data, especially data coming from household and/or establishment surveys
