1. Topic:Production Of Training Video For Counselling On Infant And Young Child Feeding –Ref (RFP-ETH-9100886)
2. Background.
In Ethiopia, almost half of the children are chronically malnourished. Malnutrition is a major underlying cause contributing to more than half of all child deaths. In general, malnutrition may cause irreversible consequences on children’s physical and mental health, which is often invisible. In view of this situation, a comprehensive Nutrition Programme (NNP) and nutrition strategy have been developed by the Government of Ethiopia (GOE) in 2008 but is now under review. The NNP aims to address both emergency and prevention aspects of nutritional problems and eventually contribute towards the achievement of target 2 of MDG 1. Government/UNICEF Ethiopia Country Programme supports the NNP in collaboration with FMOH through three major components.
3: Objective:
-To produce a high quality and engaging 20-minute training video (10 mins on lactation management/Breast Feeding and 10 mins on Complementary Feeding) for woreda HEP supervisors to provide them with a demonstration tool on how to conduct counseling on these two issues. NB. The video will have an English version and produced in Amharic, Somali, Afar and Tigrigna languages with packages of complementary print materials like counseling cards.
-To edit a modified version of the video for direct use with lactating mothers or women with infants of complementary feeding age (ie. 6-24 months)-
4. Qualification and Experience Required:
The firm is expected to have the following background and experience and qualifications:
-An international firm with international production experience (work in African in particular Ethiopian context will be an asset). The firm may have an affiliation with local organization.
-Experience in developing multimedia packages on one topic including photographic, print materials and videos.
-Credible track record and extensive experience in quality video production in the area of infant and young child feeding within a community-based setting in local situation.
Should have qualified, trained and experienced staff who can lead and undertake the specified tasks.
-Legal eligibility for the assignment as a registered company or institution.
