The Uganda Director of Operations will collaberate with the Executive Director to manage and supervise UAPO’s operations in Uganda. The Director of Operations will be required to lead a diverse team of Ugandans and Americans to implement UAPO's country strategy through facilitating the development of quality programs, sound management, organizational/team development, financial control and resource management. The ideal candidate should possess a deep personal connection with the mission and vision of UAPO and be willing to do what is necessary to help the organization meet its goals. Candidates should value detail and efficiency and should possess strong leadership qualities, organizational skills, self-initiative, relationship building capacities, problem solving abilities and have experience managing a diverse team in a cross cultural context.

Responsibilities:
Management
Lead and manage the Uganda team to facilitate a high performance egalitarian culture of learning, development, trust and integrity rooted in the teachings of Jesus
Manage all Uganda staff to ensure they have the necessary direction and resources to excel in their positions and meet organizational objectives
Effectively maintain organizational policies and procedures
Regularly dispatch updates from the US office to the UAPO Uganda staff
Perform peer reviews with staff to facilitate team development, communication, and feedback
Leadership
Promote the mission and vision of UAPO
Model a high standard of Christian leadership, ministry and integrity though lifestyle and work relationships
Provide spiritual guidance and encournagement to team members
Lead weekly fellowship meetings with staff and volunteers to build community and enhance relationships on professional and personal levels
Serve as a leader and representative for UAPO in Uganda
Preserve and promote the spirit of UAPO to all team members, volunteers, communities, and visitors
Administration
Lead weekly staff meetings to ensure proper commuication, task delegation, and planning
Oversee all administrative functions of the Jinja office
Communicate regularly with Executive Director with written reports and weekly conference calls
Oversee the organization's legal operations in Uganda
Post entries to UAPO's blog to keep supporters up to date with UAPO’s activities in Uganda
Finance
Oversee all financial transactions within the organization to ensure all expenditures directly attribute to fulfilling organizational goals and objectives in the most effiecient and effective way possible
Produce an annual budget and submit to the US office for approval
Manage funds within prescribed budgets and guidelines
Use Quickbooks to administer all books of account including petty cash, payroll, accounts payable and accounts receivable
Provide periodic financial reports upon request
Maintain an accurate and complete paper trail of supporting documentation for all financial activities including receipts, invoices, and contracts
Minimize financial loss and inefficiencies
Establish relationships with UAPO's banks
Provide monthly budget requests to the US office

Strong IT and computer skills. Must be proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, & Powerpoint) and be able to quickly learn new software applications; previous experience working with Quickbooks a plus
Solid financial management skills with sound understanding of basic accounting principles, practices and terminology
Excellent communication, networking and influencing skills, with the ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with a range of people across a variety of settings
Ability to coordinate activities with local involvement and establish working relationships with other NGOs
Requirements
Bachelor's degree (BA) from four-year college or university
Minimum 1 year working experience in a cross cultural development context (ideally within an African nation) including management of people and resources
Minimum 2 years working in a professional environment
