About this Job:	Arbeiter-Samariter-Bund (ASB) is an international non-profit, non-denominational I NGO, working in the development and relief sector that has recently received funding from UN Women. SOLIDAR, KALIP, ALREP to implement the different projects. The objectives are: Sensitization of community leaders on Gender and Human Rights and support for appropriate economic programmes for extremely vulnerable families in Moroto District Protect the most vulnerable and enhance incomes and food security of agro-pastoral communities in Karamoja in an environmentally responsible approach. Productive infrastructure in support of farming rebuilt, while increasing enhancing farmers access to funds and production enhancing tools and technologies To support our activities and fulfil this commitment, we are seeking to recruit Ugandan nationals for a number of positions to join our dynamic, innovative and committed staff team Livelihoods Officers (2) National Contract Fixed Term with possibility of extension Based In Moroto The role: The project requires field based livelihoods officers to assist women and their family members to strengthen traditional livelihoods and/or embark upon alternative livelihoods. The project will utilise the Pastoral/Farmer Field School Methodology as well as pilot new methods for the growing and harvesting of High Value Horticulture. The Livelihoods position will also supervise and oversee other programme components in tandem with the Gender Officers including water harvesting at the Household level, the establishment and monitoring of VSLA schemes and the mainstreaming of other key social topics including HIV/AIDs and reproductive health. The Livelihoods Officer will be expected to carry out extension work within one Sub-county and be based at the sub county level.
Requirement:	The Person: You should have a minimum diploma in Agriculture (crop science option) or equivalent substantial experience (minimum of 2 years) in a similar role (primarily livelihoods) in implementing community projects, preferably in farmer institutional development and Farmer Field School methodology (FFS). Proven experience in group formation and individual/group training, along with good knowledge of group dynamics. Ideally, training in protection will be an added advantage. You will have experience of working with pastoral and agro-pastoral communities in arid and semi-arid lands. You should have demonstrated commitment to gender equality and women’s empowerment, and practical experience of mainstreaming this into livelihoods programming. Good experience of project cycle management, including assessments and monitoring & evaluation is a must, along with good writing skills in English and good speaking skills in Nka’ Karamajong. Strong communication skills Ability to work as a part of a diverse team irrespective of ethnicity, gender or age and adhere to the ethos and values of the project. You need commitment to travel and work in remote areas. Fluency in English and N’ka Karamojong required. Experience working with an international NGO preferred. Motorcycle license is a must.
