At Oikocredit International based in Amersfoort, The Netherlands, we are currently looking for a
GENERAL COUNSEL (36 hrs /wk)
Main Responsibilities:
- Assist Board, management and members on strategic issues, legal status and procedures including nominations and elections;
- Provide advice and assistance on the legality (negotiating) of agreements with external third parties, co- funders, Fund management partners, financial institutions or capital sources and ensure that they are based on relevant law and in the best interest of Oikocredit;
- Provide legal advice and support to other departments in such areas as labour law and service agreements for consultants, intellectual property law, technical assistance agreements, European Law and privacy issues, common investment administration, corporate communications (website amongst others);
- Registration of Oikocredit and its related foundations, their articles, directors and representatives, with the chamber of commerce;
- Together with the Director of Finance (coordinating the tax part) set the frameworks for tax and legal status, legality of operations of Regional Offices (RO’s) and for selecting the consultants or law firms to advise us.
- To review and ensure that management has the correct and adequate legal information for decision making that operations of National Support Offices and Support Associations comply with applicable law and are properly registered, including consulting outside authorities where appropriate;

Education and experience
- Academic degree in Dutch company law
- Solid experience in securities law, compliance and corporate finance
- Thorough knowledge of and fluency in English, and good understanding of at least one other major European language (Spanish, German or French)
- Minimum of around 10 years of experience in a legal position with a recent in-house experience, preferably in an international organisation, financial (development) institution, or a major law firm with focus on corporate legal affairs and experience with legal and compliance issues around share and bond issues
- International experience is an advantage
