Description
Job Purpose
- Responsible for providing guidance on policy, pay/no pay and other issues through the Retail Risk Teams throughout the business of Barclays Seychelles including ensuring adherence to Small Business and Premier Risk management guidelines.
- Responsible for analysing and monitoring the risk performance of the Retail Risk teams providing appropriate training and coaching to improve performance.
.Main Accountabilities
- Act as a source of technical excellence and point of reference in relation to risk matters for the Retail Risk Units.
- Establish risk performance standards for the Retail Risk Units and the managers within the Units.
- Assist with the design and formulation of Retail Credit policy for all the Seychelles Businesses.
- Review and renewal of :
Pay / No Pay rule framework
Automated encashment rule parameters
EWL policy framework - Assist with the development of of a grading model for the Personal Sector provisioning requirements.
- Monitor the achievement of agreed targets for risk performance measures by the Retail Risk Units taking corrective action where applicable.
- Analyze all Retail lending on a country by country basis making recommendations for changes to lending policy rules, guidelines and scorecards as appropriate.
- Review, assess the risk impact and recommend changes to new or amended credit products within the Retail sector.
- Support credit risk analysis and make recommendations on entry into new markets. This will typically involve more complicated risk issues and where complex interrogation of the BIW is required.
- Sanction monitoring and control decisions referred to the centre by Retail Risk Units.
- Be responsible for the review and documenting of issues arising out of less than satisfactory audit reports. This includes the identification and investigation of any potential pan-Seychellesn issues.
- Ensure Retail Risk Units have the systems to enable Risk to comply with the regulations affecting the financial services industry.
- Monitor and manage workflow within the Control and Monitoring Team
- Compilation of various returns, as required, through the assimilation of information available within the RRU.
- Input into new / amended lending policies or products within the business.
- First point of contact for customer complaints.
Qualifications
Technical Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of the Bank's products, services and policies and/or other specialist knowledge required to undertake the role:
Detailed knowledge of Personal, Small Business and Premier risk products, policies, procedures and services - Good understanding of business objectives for Small Business, Premier and Personal Sector Mass Market businesses.
- Good working knowledge of other products and services offered by Barclays Seychelles.

Job Pupose
The role holder will be required to check and test through sampling exercises that all credit policies, RMCD and other control credit manuals are correctly applied and undertake a credit control sampling checks for all retail scored & non scored Personal lending have been properly decisioned including account opening, limits and disbursements made in line with terms and conditions of approval.
Main Accountabilities
- Initial check of all Retail Applications falling outside Head of Underwriting Discretionary Limit routed to Retail credit for sanction to ensure all appropriate documents held with recommendation from Head of Underwriting.
- Raise any issue found formally with clear action points and follow-up to ensure corrective action taken & closed.
- Sampling checks of Retail Risk Reports including UD 01 Daily refer List, UD02 Limit Due to Expire, UD03 Limits Expired, UD05 Loan Account at Risk, UD06 Savings Overdrawn, UD07 Current Account at Risk, U294 Daily Marked Limits to ensure that these reports have been properly actioned on time with appropriate diaries raised on CCS for follow up and resolve accordingly.
- Weekly checks of CCS system so as to ensure diaries are properly followed with no records overdue diaries.
- Analyse customer financial statements and proposition, making recommendations / modifications to the proposal so the request constitutes an acceptable risk to the Bank.
- Discuss any finding or shortcoming noted during the exercise immediately with the Business Team Leader and raise proper action note to ensure prompt closure.
- Sampling of excesses on retail accounts to ensure that decisions are correct and within credit discretion allocated.
- Sampling of Non Scored loans secured and unsecured disbursed by LPC to ensure all terms & conditions met before disbursement and account correctly opened on BRAINS.
- Sampling of Credit scored loans processed by LPC to ensure all data has been correctly captured on E-box as per sampling standard requirement.
- Ensure through sampling checks that credit risk is under control leading to Green Audit
- Ensure Policies are reviewed and attested on time and circulated to stake holders.
- Support and assist Retail Credit Analytics Manager with MI preparation and distribution.
