Integrated flood management in Kampala, Uganda: Overall assessment of flood risk with pilot flood hazard mapping
Request for Expressions of Interest
UN-Habitat invites expressions of interest (EOI) from non-governmental organisations (NGOs), not-for-profit organizations and others to help carry out an overall assessment of flood risk, along with pilot flood hazard mapping, in Kampala, Uganda. This activity, to be conducted according to the principles of integrated flood management, will be carried out under the auspices of UN-Habitat's Cities and Climate Change Initiative (CCCI). The Terms of Reference (TOR), including project work plan and criteria for selecting an implementing partner, are attached.
Applicants are encouraged to express interest in carrying out the entire scope of work as described. To do so applicants may associate with other international or national entities or consultants as necessary. Applicants also may express interest in carrying out only a portion of the work; however in this case applicants should express willingness to associate with others identified by UN-Habitat to carry out the remaining tasks. UN-Habitat intends to sign an agreement only with the lead international implementing partner, who will be fully responsible for implementation of the assignment and who will associate with others as necessary.
Interested parties should send their expression of interest no later than Friday 12 August to: Robert Kehew at robert.kehew@unhabitat.org, with copy to iole.issaias@unhabitat.org. Expressions of interest should include:
- letter indicating whether the applicant is interested in carrying out the entire TOR or just a portion of the activities
- description (if applicable) of the members and structure of the team to carry out the work
- confirmation (in the event that the applicant is selected but is only interested in carrying out a portion of the work) that the applicant is willing to associate with others identified by UN-Habitat to carry out the remaining tasks
- presentation of the organisation's relevant experience, organised according to the selection criteria for the activity
- CVs of key staff, along with a description of their roles and approximate level of effort, and confirmation of their availability to undertake the assignment as proposed
- references for similar activities carried out for other clients
- ballpark budget estimate, with assumptions
- any questions or comments on the TOR.
Please note that UN-Habitat is not in a position to confirm receipt of EOIs. Applicants will be contacted directly should UN-Habitat short-list their EOI, wish to discuss their EOI, or wish to enter into an agreement with the applicant.
