We are looking for suitably qualified candidates for the positions of General Manager for our new hotel Melia Zanzibar (Zanzibar – Tanzania).


Nestled in 30 acres of lush tropical gardens overlooking the Indian Ocean, Melia Zanzibar Hotel redefines luxury on the mystical Island of Zanzibar.

The Melia Zanzibar features 110 luxuriously appointed rooms and suites, and 7 private villas each with their own infinity pools, kitchenette, sundeck and butler services.

The main area of the hotel offers a total o 19 accommodation cluster each with 6 Garden Rooms, 4 Terrace Rooms an 1 Suite. The Villas are exclusive and are located near the Anantara Spa. All rooms, suites and Villas are contemporarily stylish with exceptional attention to comfort, privacy and relaxation. Bathrooms are Olympian separate shower, a vas freestanding bathtub with a glorious outside shower and sky views.

The Melia Zanzibar provides unique culinary indulgences, boasting three restaurants, two bars and variety of private dining options. The Beach Club Bar & Grill is located along 800m of beach front and offers an array of activities between the lush palm groves, soft white sand and crystal clear water.

Your role as a General Manager will lead the executive committee and supervise the hotel operations as well as project management.



Job Description

• Manage the development and operation of hotels
• Develop and implement the strategic plan, marketing plan, budget and goals
• Set-up and manage the operational departments within the hotel
• Establish and maintain effective internal communication and employee relations as well as the management team.
• Ability to adapt to an ever changing, fast paced, high volume environment
• Exceptional organizational, interpersonal, communication, analytical, problem solving and decision making skills
• Aptitude to work with people from various cultures
• Promote efficiency, confidence, courtesy and an extremely high standard of social skills.
• Achieve guest satisfaction and organizational profitability through effective utilization of all resources.
• Promote and ensure good inter-departmental relations.
• Display a pleasant manner and positive attitude at all times and to promote a good.


Job Requirements

• At least 5 years’ experience in a 5* Resort as General Manager preferably in an African Island destination.
* Previous experience in Tanzania will be valued.
• Degree in Business, Marketing and/or Hotel Management
• Fluency in English.
• Must be willing to relocate to Zanzibar (Tanzania)
