Justice Specialist
The US Mission in Dar es Salaam is seeking eligible and qualified applicants for the position of Justice Specialist with the Department of Justice.
BASIC FUNCTION OF POSITION
The incumbent serves as an aid to the Department Of justice (DOJ) Resident Legal advisor (RLA). He/she assists the RLA in researching issues of law and procedure and planning and coordinating training programs, visits and conferences. Other responsibilities include establishing and maintaining contacts with host government officials, and government officials within the countries located in the Horn of Africa and reviewing and interpreting draft legislation and generating legal reports. Additionally, the incumbent provides administrative support to the RLA and to DOJ Criminal Division Programs at the Embassy.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

Education:
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent (License) in Law is required.
Experience:
Minimum of 2 years’ experience in exposure to legal practices with an NGO, Government of Tanzania or a law firm is required.
Language:
Level IV (fluent) in English and Kiswahili (speaking, writing and reading) is required. (This will be tested)
Skills and Abilities:
Strong communication skills, services oriented attitude, excellent interpersonal skills and poise are required. Strong writing skills in Swahili and English are required. (This will be tested).
Job Knowledge:
Must possess an excellent understanding of the Tanzanian legal and criminal justice system, as well as a solid understanding of the American and/or European legal systems are required.

ADDITIONAL SELECTION CRITERIA:
Management will consider when determining successful candidacy: nepotism, conflicts of interest, budget, and residency status.
Current OR employees serving a probationary period are not eligible to apply. Current OR employees with an Overall Summary rating of Needs Improvement or Unsatisfactory on their most recent Employee Performance report (EPR) are not eligible to apply.
Current NOR employees hired on a Family Member Employment (FMA) or a Personal Service Agreement (PSA) are not eligible to apply within the first 90 calendar days of their employment, unless they have a When Actually Employed (WAE) work schedule.
The candidate must be able to obtain the local security certification.
Information Management Assistant
BASIC FUNCTION OF POSITION
Working under the supervision of the Senior Locally Employed Staff (LES) Systems manager, this position is responsible for administering the SharePoint Intranet infrastructure at Post including all web pages hosted on our site collection. Serves as SQL database administrator, Microsoft IIS manager, and content manager. Responsible for the installation, configuration, security, operation, and maintenance of servers, equipment, and software related to SharePoint/IIS/SQL Server infrastructure. Responsible for working directly with all offices in the mission to help them better utilize SharePoint and modifying the SharePoint Intranet as needed.
The incumbent will also serve as Post’s in house IT trainer and perform all training related activities including end user support for various Department of State software packages including installation, maintenance and troubleshooting of such systems in the unclassified system under the operation of US Embassy Dar es Salaam for employees to accomplish job results by planning conducting and evaluating computer training.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

Education:
Successful completion of four-year degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Management Information Systems or Computer Engineering is required.
Experience:
At least two years working as a Network Engineer or IT Technical Support position with emphasis on database management and website hosting is required.
Language:
Level IV (fluent) in English and Kiswahili (speaking, writing and reading) is required. (This will be tested)
Skills and Abilities:
Incumbent must possess IT skills in Microsoft Server 2008 R2, active directory, network security design principles, and Microsoft SQL server 2005 is required. (This will be tested).
Job Knowledge:
The incumbent must possess advanced specialist knowledge in the IT field with advanced knowledge in MS SQL, Internet Information Services (IIS), and website hosting is required.
