CONSULTANT OR A TEAM OF CONSULTANTS POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The Canadian High Commission is seeking a consultant or a team of consultants to provide short-term technical support for the initial planning of the Teacher Education Support Project (TESP). The consultant(s) will report to Global Affairs Canada in Tanzania. the consultant(s) will provide technical support and advice to the Ministry of Education, Science,
Technology and Vocational Training for the development of
(i) a needs assessment study on the supply and demand of teachers and
(ii) a five-year operations manual for the TESP.
Bidders will be evaluated on the following, among other criteria:
Experience managing complex, multi-year, multi-stakeholder projects or programs, ideally in
Tanzania;
Experience applying results-based management methodology and tools in the design,
planning, implementation or monitoring of projects or programs;'
Experience mainstreaming cross-cutting issues;
Experience conducting a needs assessment or baseline study that has informed 0 project
planning, ideally in the education sector; and
Experience supporting government or organizational teams to assess operational plans.
Applicants must have, at a minimum, a bachelor's degree from a recognized university, three years of
experience managing projects/programs in the education sector in Tanzania and three assignments
involving gender equality in the education sector.
The assignment also requires the ability to communicate ideas in a manner conducive to their practical
application, work with teams to add value to collective results, and use Microsoft and other common
computer software applications proficiently. Applicants mustbe fully fluent in written and oral English.
Teams can consist of no more than three members.
