PROFILE
The Dar es Salaam Maritime Institute (DMI) is a Parastatal Organisation under the Ministry of Works, transport and Communication. The Institute is established by the Act of Parliament No.22 of 1991 as a specialized Institution to provide Maritime Education and Training with the aim to center for manpower needs.
DMI is fully accredited by Surface and Marine Transport Regulatory Authority (SUMATRA) to offer education and training in accordance with the international Convention on Standards of Training, Certification and Watch keeping for Seafarers (STCW), 1978 as amended. DMI is also accredited by the National Council for Technical Education (NACTE) and is recognized by East African Cooperation (EAC) as a Center of Excellence for Maritime Education and Training in East Africa Region.
Dar es salaam Maritime Institute invites qualified Tanzanians with relevant qualifications to apply for the positions as spelt out hereunder.
Record Management Assistant
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
i. Receives all incoming mails and enters them in the relevant registers.
ii. Receives and distributes official publications according to standing instructions.
iii. Opens registered letters
iv. Copies correspondence to relevant files and attends them whenever necessary.
v. Keeps file records using file index and file movement cards.
vi. Takes record of incoming and outgoing mails.
vii. Classifies and files records.
viii. Files letters in files and distributes them to responsibly officers.
ix. Ensures that files are returned to the Registry after actions by responsible officers.
x. Ensures that outgoing mails are in order.
xi. Identifies and retrieves information held within records.
xii. Performs any other duties as may be assigned by the supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION
Holder of Advanced Level Secondary School Certificate with Certificate on Records Management from any recognized institution and computer knowledge,
