The Project
The project, funded by KfW, aims for the improvement of the water supply and sanitation in the towns of Babati and Mtwara and additionally the sanitation situation in the towns of Kigoma, Sumbawanga and Lindi. The planned measures are part of the “7 Towns Urban Upgrading Programme” and complementary to the emergency and other measures already co-financed by EU, KfW, GIZ and AfD for the towns of Babati, Mtwara, Kigoma, Sumbawanga, Lindi, Bukoba and Musoma. The overall objective of the programme is to improve health and well-being of the urban and periurban low-income areas of Tanzania. The on-going project focusses on the consultancy for works and services in Mtwara, Babati, Kigoma, Lindi and Sumbawanga and supports the improvement of simple and low-cost oriented solutions in order to reach a high number of inhabitants especially people living in low-income areas.
Your Main Duties in this Position
General tasks of a team leader including regular reporting in accordance with KfW standards
Implementation of capacity building measures
Field general management / institutional / organizational development
Field commercial and financial management
Field technical management and O&M support
Field customer management and hygiene sensitization
Organization of workshops
Monitoring and evaluation
Supervision of project progress at the project sites in Sumbawanga and Lindi
Your Educational Background
University degree in related field
Your Expertise / Profile
International expert with technical, social or economic background
At least 15 years of managerial and team leading experience
Broad experience in carrying out water supply & sanitation projects including sanitation marketing interventions in low income areas
Technical expertise for design & construction supervision for water supply infrastructures in low-income areas, sludge digesters and public sanitation facilities in 5 towns
Expertise in behavior change techniques and social marketing expertise for improvements of hygiene, water and sanitation conditions
Financial / economic expertise from similar projects
Regional experience in Sub-Saharan Africa is an asset
Time Schedule / Duration of Assignment
The project is on-going, while the assignment is scheduled to start by 15 November 2015 and will run for approximately 16 months with possible extension.
The duration of your assignment in this role is set for the entire project period; the exact assignment times are subject to project needs.
