The Deputy Secretary-General (Political) at the Commonwealth Secretariat is seeking a Head of Office to support them in the line management, oversight and high-level leadership of four key divisions within the organisation: Communications, Human Rights, Political Affairs and Rule of Law.
You will be responsible for providing and coordinating policy advice and overseeing the management of the Deputy Secretary-General (Political) office. This will include long-term planning activities, day-to-day operational responsibilities and strong adherence to corporate standards and compliance obligations. In addition, you will maintain and enhance effective and efficient procedures, offer innovative thinking and fresh insights, provide efficient and confidential support and liaise with internal and external colleagues, all with sensitivity and tact.
The successful applicant will have at least seven years’ experience in providing advice to senior management in a government department or international organisation, with exceptionally honed policy formulation and administrative skills. You will also have an ability to plan and manage diverse workflows, prioritise and exercise initiative; an ability to grasp complex issues and give clear, concise and objective advice; and exceptional problem-solving, communication and analytical skills.
