Development and Production International (DPI) is responsible for Statoil’s existing international portfolio of producing assets and planned field developments. DPI focuses on building business clusters and maximising the value of our producing fields internationally. Some of the main priorities are to ensure industry leading HSE performance in all our operations and partner-operated fields, deliver production and mature new projects. DPI is organised in four regions: Europe and Asia (EA), North Africa (NAF), South America (SAM) and sub-Saharan Africa (SAF).

Job description

  • Role requirements:
  • Develop the commercial basis for and participate in establishing agreements needed to progress the Tanzania Gas Project among International Oil& Gas Companies (IOCs) involved as well as towards the Government of Tanzania (GoT).
  • Participate in a process with the GoT together with the other IOCs to identify and develop commercial frame conditions for a Joint LNG facility and secure necessary stability over time.
  • Participate in developing the operational and commercial structure for midstream operations including external project financing.
  • Analyse and advice management on key political/policy issues affecting Statoil’s business in Tanzania, including macro impact of a large gas project in Tanzania. Analyse and understand impact of existing and coming Tanzanian regulatory framework relevant for the Oil & Gas sector.
  • Actively coordinate and execute meetings with government officials, and other relevant stakeholders to support Statoil business objectives and build context and understanding of the Tanzania Gas Project.
  • Establish contacts and build relations towards other Statoil entities and relevant functions at corporate headquarter in Norway.

  • Proven ability in building external relationships and engaging at senior level with government officials, international business enterprises and other external stakeholders.
  • Knowledge and working experience in and towards relevant ministries and entities in the Government of Tanzania.
  • Prior experience from extractive industry related issues in Tanzania will be an added.

Qualifications

  • Masters University degree or equivalent from a reputable academic institution
  • 5-10 year relevant work experience

  • Organized, with ability to work independently as well as in team, take initiative to and secure timely deliveries.
  • Co-operative and enjoy working in multidisciplinary and multicultural project teams.
  • Strong communications capabilities in oral and written English and Swahili language.
