Job description

  • Statoil is now looking for a qualified Tanzanian National to be responsible for the discipline health and working environment in Statoil Tanzania
  • Lead the medical emergency response function in Tanzania Business Unit
  • Development and maintenance of medical emergency response plans for Statoil activities in country (1 Line and 2 Line) including first aid, stabilization and evacuation to center of adequate medical care
  • Drive the occupational health program including delivering fitness to work assessments, pre-employment work examinations, periodic medical examinations, fitness-to-work standards, medical surveillance according to the health risk exposures and monitoring of contractor compliance to this plan
  • Ensure proper health and hygiene at all Statoil locations; offices, base camp, operations site and logistics base. This includes monitoring of communicable diseases and ensuring hygienic conditions regarding catering
  • Develop and implement substance abuse programs
  • Ensure that documents and all medical information are kept in a confidential manner in accordance with Statoil and legal requirements
  • Deliver training in preventive health topics including first aid, malaria and tropical diseases
  • Develop, implement and maintain malaria awareness program and malaria prevention program (incl other tropical diseases)
  • Develop and maintain an attractive, inspiring, health promoting and safe working environment through visible leadership and competence development

Qualifications

  • Doctor of medicine, licensed to practice in Tanzania, preferably some occupational health training. Fluent in English and Swahili
  • 1-2 years practice in Medicine

Personal qualities

  • High ethical integrity and identification with Statoil values and the Compliance & Leadership way of working
  • Experience and interest in Occupational Health
  • Competence and experience in trauma management (mental and physical), occupational health issues (noise, ergonomics, chemical handling among others), drugs and alcohol abuse related issues, as well as family practise
  • Knowledge of legislation (occupational health, sanitary)
  • Experience in managing contracts with medical service providers
  • International experience and adaptable to different cultures
  • Ability to work in team
  • Hands-on and solution oriented
  • Strong people skills
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
