Rio Tinto Energy has recently acquired control of Riversdale Mining in Mozambique. Riversdale currently has 2 projects, the Benga project which is set to produce first coal in 2011. The Rio Tinto Health and Safety standards and processes need to be established in a quick and effective way to deliver strong health and safety outcomes and alignment with Rio Tinto's values and standards.

The Maintenance Planner is part of the Maintenance and Engineering team. The team is responsible for providing maintenance and engineering support services to the Benga Operations. The Maintenance Planner will be expected to support the Maintenance and Engineering Team by developing and maintaining cost effective maintenance strategies, standards, plans & budget to support the light vehicle and infrastructure and electrical component facilities and equipment in meeting the objectives of the mine

Key accountabilities:

• Adjust any maintenance plans in CMMS as necessary
• Make required changes to work packages or master data
• Identify, create, and maintain appropriate BOM's, Task Lists, and PRT's.
• Check for correct manning requirements on work order operations
• Review outstanding work orders in system
• Ensure condition monitoring activities are planned and completed.
• prioritize work orders in CMMS
• Change the status of the work order to ready for scheduling
• Identify and order parts with <16 week lead for PM01 work orders
• Check for weekly scheduled operations parts availability
• Liaise with suppliers, procurement and OEMs on outstanding parts
• Manage workflow for repairable spares
• Ensure that purchase requisitions are appropriately raised for any component repairs
• Identify and manage warranty claims
• Liaise with Suppliers and OEMs to identify and source specialised tooling / labour requirements
• Gather information, compile and deliver Work Packages to the Maintenance Supervisor
• Identify improvements to the work scope and plan
• Update changed work scope on Work Orders or Service Sheets
• Notify the Maintenance and Engineering Manager of out of budget work.
• Notify the LT Planner of equipment health issues.
• Maintain forecasting models and provide input into overall mine planning meetings
• Review accuracy of scheduled operations - labour requirement, parts and tooling required, etc..

• College/University Education/ Other Qualifications (Relevant trade qualifications and experience in mining maintenance environment)
• Previous experience in maintenance and planning of light vehicles and infrastructure facilities.
• Experience in the use of the CMMS maintenance management systems.
• Competence in the use of Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Sound judgment, decision-making and problem-solving capability
• Ability to interpret technical information, and provide advice to team.
• A meticulous approach to managing data.
• Ability to negotiate with Suppliers.
• Demonstrated ability to identify and implement improvements.
