Job Description
The Case Manager is a paid intern who will work under supervision of the Case Manager Coordinator of Microjustice Rwanda, and within the given framework and policy planning as determined by the Legal Head of Microjustice Rwanda (L.H) the Case Manager is responsible for the accurate implementation of the case management system. The Case Management Program oversees the handling of individual legal advising and document procurement for disenfranchised border populations. The Case Manager will be working with underserved populations to address their most pressing basic legal needs. The Case Manager must be a resourceful, creative, and dedicated problem solver.
Main Tasks and Responsibilities
- Effective, accurate and precise handling of legal-related counselling and case processing, by procedures and standards that have been identified by the facilitators.
- Timely, complete and adequate maintenance of client files, including signed copies of the received service. The C.M must ensure that sensitive files will be handled in a confidential manner
- Continual monitoring and analyses of case procedures for opportunities in development and, in close cooperation with the Case Management Coordinator and upon approval of the L.H, implementation of research, improvement and development of services to increase the efficiency of case processing.
- Assistance in the development of, and active participation in outreach and legal education programs as designed by Microjustice Rwanda
- Timely and adequate weekly (financial) reporting of Case Management activities to the C.M.C
- Participation in weekly staff meeting with the Program Director and Legal Head
Requirements
Education & Experience:
- A bachelor's degree in law or a related field
- Preferred experience in the field of law or social work
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Proficiency in English and Kinyarwanda required, proficiency in French appreciated
Skills
- Effectiveness working with a team to achieve desired results
- Grassroots community organization, volunteer coordination, and/or mobilization experience
- Knowledge of and familiarization with Rwandan legal system
- Experience in dealing with at-risk populations
- Interest in and knowledge of global social justice
