African Barrick Gold’s Bulyanhulu Gold Mine seeks to employ an experienced Engineering Training Superintendent to develop, organise, monitor and implement the Company’s maintenance training programs in line with Company objectives and policies. The incumbent will be responsible for ensuring that all related training activities are attended to in a timely manner and that results are achieved as planned.
KEY RESULT AREAS/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
• Take ownership of the Company’s training process and continuously improve the training functions
• Identify the training needs of the Company in conjunction with management and prepare the quarterly Training Plan
• Assist with the Company’s training and localization plan and provide quarterly reports to management
• Proactively develop training quality systems, approaches and practices as needed
• Preparation of the Annual Training Budget and management of the budget and implementation of continuous improvement and cost control
• Develop training officers in effective techniques of training in both generic and specialized equipment specific areas i.e. for all maintenance employees, on the job training, safety, refresher training, and knowledge and changes in policies, procedures and techniques
• In conjunction with the training staff, organize and develop training programs, manuals, reference library, evaluation procedures and other training resources
• Create a working environment that ensures that employees gain new skills and achieve their full potential by developing and implementing effective training and mentoring programs
PROFESSIONAL AND INTERPERSONAL SKILLS/ATTRIBUTES
Education Requirements:
• Mechanical Engineering Diploma or equivalent
Experience Requirements:
• A minimum of 10 years practical experience in a teaching position or as a on the job trainer in a mining company
• Extensive experience in delivering maintenance training courses and developing training materials
• Extensive experience in indentifying training needs for the UG mining business
• Extensive experience and familiar with operation of trackless equipment and maintenance requirements of light, medium and heavy Earth Moving Equipment including a Light Vehicle fleet. Component rebuilding such as engines, transmissions and hydraulic systems forms part of the expertise and skills required
• Experience in development and training of a national workforce
• Sound experience and knowledge with all technical trades skills
• Strong experience in setting up a training facility for adult trades learning
• Experience on calibration, repair and replacement of components in process control loops
• 10 years experience in a teaching position or as a on the job trainer in a mining company
