Columbia University’s ICAP Global. Health. Action in Tanzania, works in partnership with the Ministries of Health and Social Welfare (MOHSW) in the mainland and Zanzibar. ICAP Tanzania provides quality comprehensive family focused HIV Prevention, Care and Treatment services at 127 health facilities. The facilities involved include regional and district hospitals, health centers and dispensaries in Kagera, Kigoma, Pwani and Zanzibar. This program is part of a broader US Government HIV/AIDS initiative in Tanzania and receives funding from Centres for Disease Control Tanzania (CDC), PEPFAR and the support of the American People. A key aspect of the program is to build the capacity of the MOHSW, at the national and sub-national levels, and indigenous CBO/NGOs to manage HIV programs including financial, administrative, program management and technical advisory skills. The program has employed competent dynamic individuals with programmatic understanding, clinical background as well as public health management knowledge in implementing the program objectives. The Program is conducting a prevalence and etiologic survey of Sexual Transmitted Infections (STI) in patients attending routine HIV outpatient care and treatment services and seeks to recruit competent dynamic individuals with research and medical background as well as knowledge of STI management according to National guidelines.

1: Position Title: Site Supervisor- 1 Post

(Integration of Sexually Transmitted Infection Diagnosis, Treatment, and Prevention in HIV Clinical Care; Prevalence and Etiology Survey)

Reports to: Study Coordinator

Location: Kagera Office with field travel up to 50% of the total time.

Contract Duration: One (1) year, with a possibility of renewal depending on the study and availability of funds

Overall Job Function:
The candidate will a member of study staff working at Kagera Regional Hospital and will assist the Investigators in all study activities and the implementation of the study.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Participate in pre-screening of patients and ensuring that they meet all eligibility criteria
  • Ensure that the study obtains informed consent before collecting information
  • Administer properly the study questionnaires
  • Conduct the STI examination
  • Collect the study laboratory samples
  • Complete all necessary logs and ensures that all data collection tools are appropriately labeled
  • Refer patients requiring syndromic management of STI to the site clinicians for management
  • Conduct data abstraction
  • Review all questionnaires and forms for completeness and accuracy
  • Assist in responding and providing clarifications to data queries
  • Provide direct support and supervision to the Interviewer.
  • Liaise with the CTC in-charge and CTC Coordinator, KRH laboratory staff, the STI out-patient clinic, and KRH medical officer in charge to ensure coordination on all matters related to the study implementation
  • Perform any other duties as may be assigned by Superiors from time to time.
Preferred Qualifications and Experience:
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing or Advanced Diploma in Clinical Medicine from recognized Medical institutions. Certificate of professional practice in specific area of competency is required.
  • Background in health science or research or related discipline will be highly preferred.
  • Knowledge of Syndromic Management of Sexually Transmitted Infections per Tanzanian guidelines as well as good clinical practice is an advantage.
  • Knowledge of good clinical practice is an advantage
  • Significant experience with standard research software packages and implementing protocols for data quality assurance.
  • Ability to work independently with strong supervisory and management skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of staff in both Swahili and Englis
2: Position Title: Interviewer- 1 Post
