African Barrick Gold’s Bulyanhulu Gold Mine seeks to appoint an experienced Mobile Maintenance Supervisor to supervise the preventative, corrective & unplanned maintenance / repairs to the mobile equipment fleet. In addition, the incumbent must ensure that all staff complies with all company procedures, laid down rules, regulations and safety standards, whilst maintaining the Barrick core values and attaining best industry standards.
KEY RESULT AREAS/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
• Perform field level risk assessments
• Supervise the maintenance of all equipment within the mobile equipment fleet, aiming to reduce unplanned maintenance and optimise availability at the lowest total ownership cost
• Oversee equipment and components repair / overhaul in accordance with company policies, procedures, O.E.M. guidelines and best industry practice
• Identify and analyse premature component / equipment failure utilising root cause Tap root analysis
• Complete required testing and safety checks on specified equipment as required
• Assist the Mobile Maintenance Foreman in the budgeting and control of maintenance costs
• Assist if required, with breakdowns and complete all necessary fault finding in a safe and diligent manner
• Comply with all statutory and legislative requirements
• Ensure adherence to all safety, health and environmental procedures and guidelines
• Provide appropriate on-the-job training and mentoring to less experience personnel
• Demonstrate by example a high level of housekeeping and environmental awareness with an emphasis on hydrocarbon disposal and management
PROFESSIONAL AND INTERPERSONAL SKILLS/ATTRIBUTES
Education Requirements:
• Completion of a structured and recognised mechanical apprenticeship
• A mechanical trade certificate, from a recognised and authorised body (FTC)
Experience Requirements:
• Minimum 5 years post apprenticeship experience
• Complete understanding of diesel engine construction, maintenance and operation
• Conversant with torque converter and multi clutch transmission systems and their control
• Conversant with hydraulic system construction and operation
• Auto electrical knowledge of starter and charging circuits
• Experience as a mobile maintenance artisan, in a production industry environment
• Experience of underground mobile mining equipment (e.g. Sandvik) & operations
• Experienced in skills transfer and team development, in a cross cultural environment
