Pan African Energy (Tanzania) Deputy Finance Controller
Pan African Energy (Tanzania) Limited (PAT) seeks an experienced Finance professional to act as Deputy Finance Controller.
PAT is the leading integrated energy company in Tanzania; developing and supplying natural gas for the power, manufacturing and transportation sectors in the country.
A wholly owned subsidiary of Orca Exploration Group Inc., PAT has been in the Tanzania market since 2001 where it has been operating the Songo Songo natural gas field. PAT has a commitment to the development and efficient use of Tanzania's natural gas resources and is engaged in exploration to increase the nation's natural gas reserves. In addition to exploration, PAT also operates the gas processing plant at Songo Songo, on behalf of plant owners, Songas Limited. The gas produced from the field is used primarily to generate much needed power for Tanzania's electrical power grid.
POSITION DESCRIPTION
You will manage a small team focusing on financial accounting and compliance issues. You will also schedule and coordinate activities across Finance to ensure reporting deadlines are met and, on a quarterly basis, will assist the Group Controller with preparation of published Group reports. You will report directly to the Finance Controller and, as a minimum, will be expected to:
• Oversee monthly finance processes, ensuring adherence to timetables;
• Review all reconciliations and monitor operation of key controls;
• Supervise Accounts Payable processes ensuring suppliers are paid on time;
• Oversee preparation of monthly payrolls;
• Ensure compliance with fiscal and accounting rules;
• Review and approve journals;
• Prepare sales invoices and monitor customer accounts to ensure collection of debts;
• Review the final ledger and prepare financial statements;
• Provide training and guidance to staff where necessary;
• Review and amend procedures are appropriate.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS
This position calls for an experience Finance professional with several years’ post qualification experience and proven experience managing and motivating a team.
Ideal candidates will have:
- a degree, ideally in Accounts or Finance;
- a professional qualification (CPA, ACCA);
- a thorough working knowledge of Tax legislation in Tanzania;
- a knowledge of payroll operations
- Written and spoken fluency in English;
- A minimum of 5 years post-qualification experience in a Finance role, including at least 3 years managing and motivating a team;
- Good spread sheet and other personal computing skills, together with a knowledge of, and experience in, operating accounting systems;
- Excellent communication and influencing skills.
And you will be:
- A self-starter, able to work with minimal supervision;
- Goal oriented and able to work under pressure;
- Well-developed leadership and personnel management skills

LOCATION
Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, with occasional travel within Tanzania.
