Global Nomads Group (GNG) is an international NGO whose mission is to foster dialogue and understanding among the world’s youth. GNG engages and empowers young people worldwide using media, including: interactive videoconferencing, webcasting, social networking, gaming, and participatory filmmaking. GNG operates at the intersection of international and peace education, striving to serve as a vehicle for awareness, bridging the boundaries of cultural misconceptions and instilling in our audience a heightened appreciation and comprehension of the world in which they live.
Our current program includes semester and year-long virtual exchange programs between students in the US and peers in Sub-Saharan Africa, Central and South East Asia, the Middle East and North Africa (MENA). In addition, GNG offers The PULSE, a weekly series of programs that bring together students from around North America to discuss and debate international issues in a virtual “town-hall” setting.
Summary of Position:
Reporting to the Executive Director, the Development Coordinator is responsible for implementing all aspects of development and fundraising activities. While the Development Coordinator will focus on external fundraising and communications, he/she will also play a key role in developing the larger fundraising strategy for the organization.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:
Development • Work with Executive Director on implementing fundraising strategy • Prospect new donors including: foundations, corporations, individuals and governmental agencies • Write proposals for selected foundations, corporation and government agencies • Generate narrative and financial reports for existing funders • Administer annual individual giving campaign • Support Executive Director in Board development including outreach and fundraising events • Maintain donor database, including accounting for and acknowledging individual donations • Special projects related to fundraising as assigned.
Outreach & Communications • Communicating and maintaining relationships with major donors
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Passion, drive and can-do attitude • Personal connection to organization’s mission • Experience with prospecting and researching potential individual and foundations • Experience writing proposals for foundations and US and European government agencies • Demonstrated ability to assist in securing funds • Impeccable writing and editing skills • Excellent oral communication skills • International experience preferred • The position requires a Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 3 years experience in a fundraising capacity.
