Njombe International School in Njombe, Tanzania is a new school looking for its first international teacher for next academic year. The school is just starting out and is organized by a group of primarily expat parents with approximately 15 pupils aged 2-10, who would be divided into two classes. The "international" teacher will spend more time with the older group and we will also have a locally-recruited teacher spending most of his or her time with the younger group, though the international teacher will also be asked to support/supervise the local teacher and lead that class on some occasions.
The school will be based on the UK national curriculum, so some familiarity with that would be an advantage (but not essential) and the school is keen on phonics-based language learning.
The salary range for this teacher is $1,000-$1,500 per month, dependent on experience. The school will also provide flights, medical insurance (including emergency evacuations) and housing.
Njombe is about 2 1/2 hours drive south from Iringa, making it about 9-10 hours from Dar. It's a s small town with reasonable medical facilities and a very active and diverse expat community. It has a lovely climate, cool and fresh all year round, similar to Northern California.
The teacher must have a university degree from an accredited university, be a native English speaker, and ideally have at least 3 years of teaching experiences and a teaching credential of some kind. Also, the applicant should be intellectually curious, energetic, organized, compassionate, and have an adventurous spirit.
