LECTURER/SENIOR LECTURER - Communication and Study Skills

DEPARTMENT OF ENGLISH Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for the position of Professor or Senior Lecturer in the Communication and Study Skills Unit. The successful candidate will be expected to assume duty on the 1 st of October 2011. Minimum qualifications and experience The minimum qualification required for the post is a Master of Arts in English Language, Linguistics, Communication Studies or any other relevant area, with at least 10 years of relevant teaching experience at tertiary level. Strong leadership qualities and experience in setting up a new department are required. A PhD in English Language / Linguistics/Communication will be an added advantage. Areas of Specialization Communication and Study Skills, Grammar and Phonology. Ability to teach in the areas of TESL/TEFL would be strong additional recommendations. Duties and Responsibilities The duties of the post will include: The teaching and assessment of undergraduate Communication and Study Skills, and English Language courses. Assist the Unit to develop into a department. Assistance in the Unit, Faculty and University administrative duties as the need arises.
