Through its network of outpatient clinics and partnerships, FIMRC asserts a multidimensional strategy that includes clinical services, extensive community outreach efforts and health education programs.
FIMRC was founded in 2002, is incorporated in Washington, D.C. and headquartered in Philadelphia, PA. The FIMRC team includes over 3,000 dedicated staff and volunteers worldwide who provide the leadership and support necessary to achieve our mission of improving access to health care for children in underserved communities. Fully staffed clinics and project sites utilize community outreach and education to compliment the direct medical care that we provide in many of our locations across the globe. FIMRC operates in six countries: El Salvador, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Peru, India and Uganda.
FIMRC has an outstanding opportunity for the Field Operations Manager (FOM). The FOM coordinates all in-country FIMRC logistics for Project Bumwalukani and works closely with clinic staff, community members, and volunteers to maximize the impact of the clinics in the communities we serve. The FOM is essential to carrying out our mission of providing access to medical care and education to underprivileged and medically underserved children around the world. Below is an outline of specific responsibilities that the position entails.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Area of Focus 1: Project Management
• Maintain updated inventory of medicines and purchase necessary clinical supplies
• Maintain patient database and patient census
• Manage clinical and health outreach team personnel
• Submit monthly clinic reports to the District Health Office (DHO) from Ugandan Ministry of Health
• Determine donation needs and communicate regularly with HQ team
• Manage the design and implementation of all outreach activities
• Coordinate community public health activities with the District Health Office
• Manage and conduct fiscal operations, including accounting, budget planning, authorizing expenditures and coordinating financial reporting
• Monitor the use of services to ensure effective use of resources for all projects
• Complete special projects as the need arises at the direction of the Chief Program Officer and Chief Executive Officer
• Oversee proposal writing and grant writing opportunities for the project's clinical and outreach programs
• Work with project staff and partners to develop and plan for new public health programs
• Develop and maintain cooperative working relationships with local hospitals, orphanages, universities, agencies and organizations in conjunction with clinic staff and current partners
• Work with the community groups to explain and interpret FIMRC programs and policies
• Monitor and evaluate the outcomes of project interventions and submit monthly reports
• Monitor the use of services to ensure effective use of resources for all projects
Area of Focus 2: Volunteer Management
• Coordinate the Global Health Volunteer Program (GHVP) for all volunteers traveling to Project Bumwalukani in conjunction with FIMRC’s Director of Volunteer Programs (USA-based)
• Work with project staff to develop unique itineraries for our international volunteers based on skill level, time in country, and interests
• Coordinate the Health Education Program and community campaigns with GHVP volunteers
• Serve as a resource to the GHVP volunteers with information about the Ugandan health care and the needs of the communities in which FIMRC works
• Coordinate all transportation, housing and dietary request for GHVP Volunteers
Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree, Master’s preferred
• Two to four years of international experience, Peace Corps experience a plus
• Strong quantitative aptitude
• Expert user of MS Excel and Word
• Familiarity with Data Analyzing software such as SAS (preferred, not required)
• Demonstrated organizational skills, self-motivation, flexibility, good communication skills and the ability to work and thrive in a fast-paced, energetic, highly creative environment
• Ability to build and maintain strong partnerships with organizations at various levels
• Strong sense of focus and attention to detail
• Academic interest in global health programs and research
• The best mix of personality (we're a small fun-loving bunch!) and skill set
• A sense of humor is always an asset
• Commitment to service as demonstrated by prior activities
