UNICEF Tanzania is recruiting a communication specialist who is accountable for developing, managing, coordinating, networking,
implementing and monitoring an advocacy and communication strategy and associated products and activities on on-going basis
with public audiences, with the objective of promoting awareness, understanding, support and respect for children's and women's
rights, and support for UNICEF's mission, priorities and programmes in the country office/regional office/media hub, and at a global
level and those of the UN Country Team.
Major Accountabilities
1. Communication strategy
• Develops, maintains and update the country advocacy and communication strategy and associated work plan.
2. Media relations
• Promotes a better understanding of, respect and support for children's and women's rights and issues by carrying out media
activities in support of UNICEF
Develops, maintains and update media relations contact IisUdatabase.
3. Celebrities and special events
• Helps establish, document, reviews and refines process of working with celebrities, including special events, media
opportunities, field trips etc.
4. Global priorities and campaigns
• Supports the UNICEF global communications objectives and strategies through development of complementary country specific
and local community materials and activities. WO.rk plan should anticipate the inclusion of work on global priorities and campaigns.
5. Child Participation
• Develops, maintains and updates the country child participation strategy and associated work plan. Strategy and work plan
include: objectives; target audiences; messages and resources; specific actions, activities and products; monitoring and
evaluation of impact; success and opportunity for improvement; ongoing refinement of the strategy.
6. Management
• Plans and monitors the use of communication budgetary resources. Approves and monitors the overall allocation and
disbursement and liquidation of funds. Takes appropriate actions to optimize use of funds.
Expected Qualification and Experience
• Advanced University degree in Communication, Journalism, and Public Relations with five (5) years of relevant professional
work experience in' communication, print, broadcast, and/or new media is preferred. However candidates with a relevant first
University degree and a minimum of seven (7) years of relevant work experience in the above-mentioned areas are welcome

• Field.work experience and background/familiarity with Emergency situations.
Fluency in English and another UN language
UNICEF Tanzania is planning to recruit 2 Nutrition Officers responsible for field monitoring and supportive supervision of
partners implementing the nutrition programme. Nutrition interventions include promotion of key infant and young child
feeding practices, integrated management of severe' acute malnutrition, vitamin A supplementation and multisectoral
nutrition coordination. Under the supervision of the Nutrition Specialist, the Nutrition Officers will be accountable for
professional technical support to Civil Society Organizations, Local Government Authorities and Regional Secretariats on
planning, monitoring and supervision, data analysis and progress reporting. The Nutrition Officers will be based in Dar es
Salaam, with frequent visit to Mbeya, Iringa, Njombe and Songwe regions.
Major Accountabilities
Support CSOs, District/Regional Nutrition Officers, District and Regional Health Management Teams involved in
implementation of the nutrition program.
Ensure availability of accurate, complete and up-to-date information required for effective project management,
monitoring and evaluation.
Monitor progress of annual nutrition work plans agreed with CSOs and LGAs.
'Identify bottlenecks in implementation of annual work plans, participate in formulation of remedial actions and ensure
effective implementation of recommendations.
Collaborate with ,UNICEF Operations staff to ensure smooth financial and supplies management, to implement
internal control systems and resolve day-to-day issues. Ensure appropriateness of financial, administrative and supply
documentation.
Contribute to the preparation of UNICEF reports, donors' reports, donors' proposal and other strategic documents
according to needs .
.Identify capacity building needs among Government and CSOs partners for continuous improvement in the quality of
nutrition services.
Identify, assess and document successful experience in programme implementation.
Expected Qualification and Experience
Minimum qualification: Master Degree in Nutrition, Food Sciences, Public Health, Medicine or other relevant disciplines.
Minimum two years of relevant professional work experience. Specific experience on project management is a must.
Fluency in English and knowledge of Kiswahili is mandatory.
