Employment at The Ocean Road Cancer Institute - End of 2015

The Ocean Road Cancer Institute (ORCI) was established by the Act of Parliament No.2 of' 996.The Institute is a semi-autonomous organization which operates at "arm's length" under the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare. The Institute has various roles which all stem on the main role of controlling Cancer in Tanzania. The Institute is currently looking for competent candidates to fill the following vacancies;

1.Job Title: Director of Technical Services-(Re-advertised)
Report to: Executive Director
Duty Station: ORCI- Dar es Salaam.

i) Duties
Manage all sections and staff under this directorate
Provide technical advice to the Executive Director on all matters pertaining to technical services;
Provide professional advice on effective and efficient use of the Institute's Infrastructures;
Oversee the uses and maintenance of hospital machines; equipments and buildings;
Develop and coordinate integrated management information system for the Institute;
Keep and maintain user and service manuals of equipments;
Manage and evaluate the performance of all staff under the directorate;
Prepare the budget for this directorate;
Prepare terms of reference for contract works and draft contracts for work services and outsourced services in liaison with
Procurement Management Unit and legal services Unit.
Perform any other duties as shall be directed by Superiors.

Required Qualifications

Holder of MSc. Degree (Electrical and Electronics or Biomedical Engineering) from a recognized Institution and must be registered with Engineers' Registration Board. Must have at least 5 years' working experience in a reputable public institution at the managerial level.

Job Title: Engineer I (1 post)(Re-advertised)
Report to: Director of Technical Services
Duty Station: ORCI - Dar es Salaam.

Direct Entry Qualifications
Holder of Postgraduate qualifications in Electrical and Electronics or Biomedical Engineering from a recognized Institution and must be registered with Engineers' Registration Board.
ii) Duties
Establishing and implementing preventive maintenance plans for the Institute's facilities.
Preparing budget for engineering works.
Preparing and implement work programmes for equipment inspection, maintenance, site surveys and installation.
Carrying out planning and procurement of necessary spares and equipments.
Providing professional advice and guidance to hospital equipment users.
Coordinating the exercise of formulation of policies relating to maintenance of hospital equipments,
Organizing installation of machinery and equipment and maintenance
Performing any other duties related to his/her work as assigned by his/her superior.

Job Title: Medical Specialist II
Report to: Clinical Services Manager
Duty Station: ORCL-Dar es Salaam

Direct Entry Qualifications
Holder of Doctor of Medicine Degree who has obtained Masters of Medicine in Clinical Oncology or Radiation Oncology
He/she must be fully registered with the Medical Council of Tanganyika.
ii) Duties:
Perform routine specialized services for in-patients and out-patients;
Carry out ward rounds and advice on appropriate treatment of the patient;
Train medical student, medical doctors and residents;
Plan and supervise services offered in his/her field
Attend and participate in morning sessions tumour boards and Medical boards;
Plan, supervise and/or participate in outreach programs;
Prepare annual budget the respective directorate;
Carry out research in his/her area of specialization and publish results in peer-reviewed journals.
Perform any other duties as shall be assigned by his/her superior.

Job Title: System Analyst III ( 2 Posts)
Duty Station: ORCI - Dar es Salaam

i)Direct entry Qualifications:
Holder of Degree in Computer Science or Information Systems; Telecommunication or related computer studies from a recognized Institution.

ii) Duties
Managing all operations concerning information system Installing ICT appliances and software
Troubleshooting and providing solutions to computer related problems
Supporting ORO on the use of ICT
Maintaining ICT security
Advising users on the efficient use of computer systems
Demonstrating new computer systems to users
'Perform any other duties as shall be assigned by his/her superior.

Job Title: Nursing Officer III (1 post)
Report to: Nursing Manager.
Duty Station: ORCI - Dar es Salaam.

Direct Entry Qualifications:
Holder of Diploma in Nursing from a recognized Institution. Must be registered by the Tanzania Nurses and Midwifery Council.

ii) Duties:
Performing general nursing care of patients;
Collecting essential medical data;
Educating patients on their health problems;
Adhering drugs and other treatments as prescribed by medical doctors
Giving health education to patients and their relatives;
Conducting ward rounds;
Counseling patients; making follow-up of working equipment in his/her working area;
Performing cervical and breast screening;
Performing cryotherapy;
Participate in outreach program;
Performing any other duties related to his/her work as assigned by his/her superior.
