Our client is a leading commercial bank in Tanzania with a regional presence. They value the principles of good banking - strong capitalization, liquidity, risk diversification, conservative lending policies, investment in service delivery channels and customer experience orientation. They therefore wish to recruit the Head of Personal Banking.
This role incorporates is a key business leadership position with overall responsibility for setting the strategic agenda for the Personal Banking Division of the Bank. The position holder is responsible for balance sheet growth, customer acquisition, customer retention, profit and loss targets. The job includes product development oversight, aimed at sustaining the Bank’s competitive position within its chosen market segments. Additionally the role holder is responsible for high quality customer experience through the Bank’s delivery channels
The Head of Personal Banking will report to the CEO.
Summary of Key Duties and Responsibilities
The Head of Personal Banking will be accountable and responsible for, among others to:
• Develop and manage a Personal Banking strategy for the bank taking into account the growth potential, competitor activity and existing customer base.
• Define measurable business growth objectives, management process and measures for sales and service;
• Deepen the current banking relationships by cross selling to customers’ additional products and services to realize new income streams, increased use of products and create dependency;
• Review services provided at all the bank channels i.e. branches and electronic channels to ensure that retail customers receive services from their channel of choice efficiently;
• Identify and develop new business locations and improve alternative service delivery channels (ATM, Internet Banking and Mobile Banking, Website) to meet the needs of Bank customers and ensure the Bank remains competitive;
• Serve as a member of the Bank’s Assets and Liabilities Committee and Management Committee take a proactive role in influencing policy and the strategic direction of the Bank;
• Manage the Bank’s exposure to external and internal risks at the service delivery front, including but not limited to adherence to procedures, optimum cash management within set limits, and physical security of bank staff and assets;
• Manage the Retail banking process and ensure that customers have a seamless service experience through all Bank delivery channels;
• Manage the Banc assurance product innovation and sales to achieve optimum returns;
• Organize, manage and motivate the available human capital within Personal Banking Division, through suitable organization structure and development programs to optimize competence and productivity
Qualification and experience required:
• Bachelors/Master’s degree in relevant professional qualification in banking and accounting from a reputable institution;
• Professional qualifications in banking will be an added advantage;
• Minimum 10 years banking experience with 5 years’ experience in general management, sales and relationship management;
• Knowledge and experience in modern Personal Banking, Retail Branch, Card Business, and Banc assurance& Investment practices in financial services industry.
• Full knowledge of BOT’s Act & various Regulations;
