Our client is a leading commercial bank in Tanzania with a regional presence. They value the principles of good banking-strong capitalization, liquidity, risk diversification, conservative lending policies, investment in service delivery channels and customer experience orientation. They therefore wish to recruit the Finance Manager.
This role will develop and implement proper management information systems and manage financial processes to meet or exceed budgeted profit and margins of the business units. Assist in the preparation of annual budget that accurately reflect the bank’s strategic plan, this includes the review of the performance of business units against their respective budgets. Identify and effectively react to major revenue and expense opportunities and possible problems on an ongoing basis, accurately forecast revenues and profit within acceptable variance levels.The Finance Manager will report to the Head of Finance.
The Finance Manager will be accountable and responsible for, among others to:
• Develop and implement proper procedures and controls to effectively track the performances of business units.
• Put in place an MIS system that will enable continuous tracking of the division’s performance, total bank business performance and provision of management and external reports.
• Produce accurate management reports which reflect the actual performance of the bank and its position periodically.
• Help to develop management talent by acting as a mentor for direct reports.
• Produce accurate statutory reports in accordance with regulatory requirements and comply with the International Accounting Standards.
• Undertake the analysis of all financial and operational information with a view to keeping Management updated at all trends within the Bank as an aid to decision making.
• Assist in undertake budgeting, planning and collation of information for review of the Bank’s Strategy.
• Review the monthly expense provisions, accruals and amortisation journals.
• Review the unusual movements on the Trial balance and general ledger and make follow for corrections. This includes review on abnormal entries
• Assist in the external and internal audits.
• Give guidance, decisions and advice on strategic planning, financial planning, accounting and management and operational support for the bank
Qualification and experience required:
• Bachelors/Master’s degree in relevant professional qualification in banking and accounting or finance from a reputable institution;
• At least 5 years’ experience in financial management, control and planning and strategic dynamics, and at least 3 years’ experience in the financial services industry;
• Full awareness and appreciation of profit dynamics in Banking;
• Experience, awareness and appreciation of all aspects of balance sheet management in banking;
• Good communication, negotiation and presentation skills;
