TIB Corporate Finance Limited (United formation) is a designated Commercial Bank subsidiary of TIB Development bank Limited. It was formed from the hived-off commercial banking activities of the restructured Tanzania Investment bank Limited. Under the Banking and financial Institutions (Development Finance) Regulation of 2012, commercial banking activities are to be separated from the core Development Financing undertakings. The TIB Corporate Finance Limited’s (CFL) main functions are to carry on corporate banking business across a network of branches, agencies and departments. The Corporate bank is fully fledged to operate as a commercial bank, with power to receive and accept deposits, make collections, invent, lend money and conduct any other related commercial banking services required for its primary corporate clientele and general public

NATURE AND SCOPE
The Job holder, administratively reports the managing Director while functionally reports to the Risk and Compliance Committee of the board. He/She will be responsible for facilitating the development of sound risk practices and technologies for the bank and in collaboration with business units and other specialists, partnering with business units and other specialists, partnering with them in identifying best practices and procedures, products, and provide policy recommendations based on findings
Key Responsibilities
1. Ensure that the bank is in compliance with the applicable internal procedures and external regulatory requirements
2. Prepare and review risk management reports and; ensure limit excesses, exception and non-compliance are promptly addressed
3. Develop a sound long term strategic direction and implementation plan for the bank’s risk policies
4. Manage and review the adequacy of risk analysis process, risk ratings and stress testing as part of Credit Risk process
5. Provide mechanisms for the bank’s compliance with risk capital allocation subject to regulatory requirements
6. Review credit reports prepared by the Credit Risk Officer and make appropriate recommendations where a product is leading to higher losses and prepare early warning reports
7. Coach, mentor and develop junior risk specialists and ensure consistent application and interpretation of risk policies to all bank’s staff
8. Review adequacy and appropriateness of the information used in the evaluation of the customer credit applications done by the Credit Risk Officer
9. Ensure continuous improvement of the Management information System and reports (related to credit risk) to ensure the remain relevant, reflect credit risk appetite and are useful to provide the management with information for use in decision making
10. Report and provide recommendations on the bank’s credit governance standards
11. Develop and revise risk requirements documentation for various aspects of strategic solutions
12. Review and approve products/services programmes and ensure all risk requirements are met before rollout of the products or services
13. Identifying and investigate the root cause of errors/frauds and provide recommendations on solutions and follow-ups
14. Perform out any other related duties as assigned by the Managing Director from time to time
Qualifications, Knowledge, Experiences
Essential
1. Masters’ Degree/Postgraduate qualifications in Economics, Risk Management, Business Administration, Finance, Accounting or related discipline
2. Minimum 8 years’ experience of which 4 must be in a senior position in Risk and compliance Department
3. Possession of Risk Management certifications will be an added advantage
4. Leadership, motivation and people management skills
5. Team player with strong interpersonal skills
6. Strong analytical and report writing skills
Preferred
1. Strong understanding of risks involved in banking and finance and how they are identified measured and managed/mitigated
2. Highly developed skills in credit risk management
3. Good understanding of and capacity to manage other risks such as liquidity operational reputational and systems risks
4. Capacity of effective and efficient enterprise-wide risk management
5. Knowledge of the bank’s financial reporting process
6. Computer Literate
