EGF develops and implements high impact and sustainable programs targeting disadvantaged communities especially youth and women with a commitment to provide the tools for self- advancement. To achieve this, EGF leverages on Equity Bank’s physical (branch and agent network),
technological (IT and Mobile) and human resources infrastructure as well as its strong and respected brand to execute its programs, enabling it to rapidly reach scale. COMMUNICATIONS SPECIALIST
Role Profile:
Reporting to the GM, Communications, the communication specialist will play an integral role in the external and internal communications of the various programs and projects of Equity Group Foundation. The ideal candidate must be proficient in journalism and communications to support the various pillars of the organization.
Key Responsibilities
• Work with the communications department and EGF in designing a social communications plan, coordinate marketing, public relations, branding and communication of EGF and the Bank’s communication department.
• Work with various departments and stakeholders in developing content and formatting of new articles for feature stories for release both internally and externally to various communications media.
• Arranging organization’s special events used to launch new products or announce sponsorships.
• Support the various thematic pillars in developing and maintaining special content.
• Support the various thematic pillars in developing and maintaining social media content.
• Developing marketing and promotional materials.
• Documenting success stories about EGF’s programs and beneficiaries.
• Monitoring use of marketing/ branding materials to ensure message consistency.
• Working with vendors including website developers, graphic designers and printers.
• Conducting research for communications initiatives and establish a resource collection including photographs and video clips for EGF.
• Other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring efficiency and effective functioning of the work unit.
Candidate’s qualifications and skills:
• University degree in communications, advertising, marketing communications or related fields.
• At least 3 to 5 years of experience in communications, marketing communications or related fields, particularly with non- profit or non- governmental organizations.
• Excellent written and oral communication abilities in English, including content organization, message flow, grammar, proofreading, editing, spelling and a
commitment to quality (writing samples and a written assignment will be required). Proficiency in Kiswahili will be an added advantage.
• Strong media networks.
• Demonstrated strength in desk top design packages (e.g. Adobe illustrator), PowerPoint, word and excel.
• Good interpersonal and collaboration skills.
• Strong organizational and planning skills.
• Attention to detail and time management skills.
