An opportunity exists for a Health and Safety Advisor to join our Health and Safety team. Reporting to the Health and Safety Superintendent,
Key accountabilities
- Expert advice, support and coaching to line management and health and safety support staff to ensure they understand and manage their health and safety risks and responsibilities in line with RTCM and Rio Tinto expectations.
- Assist with implementation of the departmental Health and Safety improvement plan.
- Ensure operational compliance with local legislation and Rio Tinto Health and Safety standards.
- Ensuring consistent implementation of health and safety policies and procedures across Tom Price operations.
- Monthly health and safety statistics recording and reporting
- Develop and maintain productive working relationships with key stakeholders
Minimum Requirements
- N Diploma in Safety Management / N Dip in Health and Safety Management / similar recognized Safety qualification
- 2 years relevant experience in mining and related Industrial work environments role including exposure to group facilitation,
- Experience and knowledge in incident investigation and internal auditing will be advantageous
- ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and / or OHSAS 18001 auditor is essential
- EB driver's license; Certified Safety Professional - IOSA advantageous
- Experience with the Mozambique Health and Safety legislation is ideal.
- The ability to communicate both verbally and in writing in English to all levels of the organization and an added advantage would be conversant in Portuguese.
