Depending on professional background, experience and family situation, a competitive compensation and benefits package will be offered. The successful applicant will be offered a fixed-term appointment of one year limited to the Special Tribunal for Lebanon (STL). This appointment and any subsequent extension(s) are subject to terms of the Tribunal’s mandate and/or the availability of the funds. The Special Tribunal for Lebanon is an international inter-governmental organization with its own independent legal identity and not a UN organization. However, STL follows the UN common system for benefits and entitlements to its staff members. UN staff members may also serve on loan from their parent department/office, if selected.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Under the overall supervision of the Unit Head, Courtroom Technology the Associate Audiovisual Producer will be responsible for the following duties:
In conjunction with the Unit Head, Courtroom technology and Court management Section, operate all audio visual systems and compose content during court sessions. Develop operational procedures including technical and artistic input guidelines for judicial audio visual productions. Once adopted, the incumbent is responsible for the maintaining compliance. Provide support in the establishment, operation and management of Audio/Video systems and other courtroom technology; record the live and delayed audio visual production of STL courtroom sessions using a multi-camera robotic system. Monitor and control the video and audio feeds within the guidelines established by the STL including the simultaneous interpretation system; electronic evidence presentation systems; video link technology and witness protection systems. Work closely with the courtroom management section to ensure delayed content is correctly redacted when required and ensure archival audio visual material is prepared in accordance with information management policy. Manage the content for open, closed and private sessions ensuring delayed content is approved for broadcast outside of the courtroom. The incumbent will be responsible for training staff members in audiovisual production and will also be the point of contact on audiovisual courtroom operations. The incumbent will also be called upon to liaise with Press and Public Information units for a coordinated approach for media coverage. The incumbent can also be called upon for internal video production scripting, shooting, editing. Any other duties as required.
COMPETENCIES:
• Technological awareness - Comprehensive technical experience and problem-solving skills in the area of video and audio production in a courtroom and media environment. Comprehensive practical knowledge of relevant audio visual standards, media and photographic production.
• Communication - Good written and oral communications skills. Ability to write in a clear and concise style.
• Professionalism - Knowledge of video and audio production techniques relating to the composition of courtroom content for archival and distribution purposes. Ability to perform under minimal supervision.
• Teamwork - Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to establish and maintain effective working relations in a multi-cultural, multi-ethnic environment with sensitivity and respect for diversity.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Education: A university degree in Media Studies, Communication, Social Sciences or related field is preferred. Certified industry training in media/television production; audiovisual design and or photography an advantage.
• Work Experience: Minimum 4 years of progressively responsible experience in audio visual production within a courtroom environment, preferably with at least 2 years at the international level managing courtroom content and distribution. Applied experience in the operation of multi camera systems, simultaneous operation of digital congress audio distribution systems with interpretation in up to four languages in a live court environment is highly desirable. Possession of an advance university degree in a relevant field may be considered in substitution of years of experience.
• Languages: Arabic, English and French are the official languages of the Special Tribunal for Lebanon. For this post proficiency in oral and written English is required. Knowledge of the other official language(s) is an asset.
