Waste Enterprisers
Waste Enterprisers Ltd. (WE) is a young and innovative social enterprise founded to improve the performance and spread of urban sanitation. We are creating a sanitation revolution that will propel Sub Saharan Africa to the forefront of human waste reuse.
WE’s approach entails building “waste-based” businesses that harness the resource value of human waste, thus creating profitable alternatives to dumping into the environment. Among these businesses is wastewater-fed aquaculture, whereby WE runs commercial fish farms in the final phase of wastewater treatment plants. The revenue generated from the sale of fish is used to cover the operation and maintenance costs of the entire treatment facility.
