The Center: CIP is a not-for-profit international agricultural research-for-development organization with a focus on potato, sweetpotato, and Andean roots and tubers. Its vision is of roots and tubers improving the lives of the poor. CIP is dedicated to achieving food security, improved well-being, and gender equity for poor people in root and tuber farming and food systems of the developing world. CIP works with partners to contribute high quality science, technology, and capacity strengthening for sustainable science-based solutions. CIP has staff and activities in over 30 locations across Asia, Africa, and Latin America. CIP is a member of the Consultative Group for International Agricultural Research, a network of 15 research centers mostly located in the developing world and supported by more than 50 donor members.
The position: Management of Compensation and Benefits is central to the organization and CIP now seeks to make the key appointment of a Compensation and Benefits Officer. This is a newly created role which will report to the HR Global Head and will work across the whole organization - HQ, regional and country offices - and oversee the development of appropriate reward programs and policies. In addition there will be a responsibility to administer benefits schemes for Peru employees.
CIP is harmonizing its reward structure and it is currently reviewing many of the internal reward processes to align where possible as a single organization. The role is focused on the design, implementation, management and administration of compensation and benefits programs, including benchmarking, market analysis, salary review support, bonus plan administration, job evaluation and ad hoc projects. The position builds acceptance of Total Reward Programs through various communications of policies, procedures and practices throughout CIP. In addition to relevant professional qualifications it is important to have a proven track record of interacting and influencing partners and stakeholders across a multi location environment.
Duties and Accountabilities: This role will focus on overall reward strategy and the development of regional or local standards and best practice in both compensation and benefits. Activities range from providing industry knowledge and expertise to internal stakeholders, analyzing compensation information, managing compensation reviews, tracking emerging benefit trends, coordinating and managing operational benefit duties/tasks and generally supporting the HR leadership team on a range of initiatives. You will support development and implementation of a Total Rewards Strategy that drives Compensation & Benefits policies and programs designed to attract, retain and motivate CIP employees.
Selection Criteria:
- Broad Compensation and Benefits background & relevant professional qualifications.
- Experience in all key aspects of compensation and benefits including job description and job evaluation processes, job families and grading systems, salary structure and ranges, salary and market survey participation and analysis, job benchmarking and resolving legal issues
- Experience in talent management including reward best practice, performance management, bonus/commission plan understanding and variable pay.
- Benefits cataloging per country (medical, insurances, vouchers, well being programs) to support equitable treatment of CIP employees across the world
- Manage external vendors and service providers for Compensation and Benefits activities
- Ability to coach Project and Line Managers to produce high quality job descriptions that accurately reflect the reality of the role
- Promote the value of talent management systems to others; consolidate the talent management reviews or requirements for the design of the system and for future updates
- Good analytical and project management skills
- Working closely with various stakeholders such as payroll, regional operations leaders, HQ leaders
- Experience on developing, reporting and monitoring HR KPIs
- Able to work independently on a variety of projects
- Able to establish and maintain good working relationships
- Able to deliver effective results, meet deadlines and targets
- Multi-country exposure would be an advantage
- Regional or international experience and knowledge of Peruvian reward management gained in consulting or corporate environments.
- Fluent English and Spanish language skills required, French language skills an advantage
