CAFOD is seeking an experienced engineer for our partners ACT and Caritas Internationalis (CI) to work in Darfur. ACT and CI have been working together in Darfur to support the people caught up in the crisis through a partnership formed in July 2004, providing support to Norwegian Church Aid who manage the NCA Darfur Programme in Sudan.
The WatSan coordinator manages all aspects of the delivery of a comprehensive ECHO funded WASH programme with the best possible efficiency and effectiveness targeting internally displaced persons (IDPs), host communities and rural villages. He/she will provide technical expertise to our Water and Sanitation activities based out of Zalingie West Darfur, complying with international standards. The coordinator will manages all project staff in the ECHO funded Watsan project. S/he manages the design, proposal and report writing requirements of the programme to ECHO standards.
This is an opportunity for a qualified engineer, with energy stamina and a sense of humour. You must be experienced in designing, implementing and managing water, sanitation and hygiene programmes. The successful candidate will need to be able to communicate effectively and produce high quality reports and proposals. It is important that you posses strong organisational and planning skills as well as an ability to capacity develop staff. Must be willing and able to work in insecure and pressurised environments.
