The Health, Nutrition and Behavior Change Communication (BCC) Advisor will be responsible for design, implementation and monitoring of Health, Nutrition and BCC Programs in FH Sudan. This person will also develop capacity building for FH Sudan and its partners on matters of health, Nutrition and BCC, assist as liaison with partners and stakeholders, and participate in assessments, project design and fundraising for the Health and Nutrition Sector.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
• Key Result Area #1 - Program management 40%
Lead and participate in planning and coordinating implementation of Health, Nutrition and BCC program components; Provide continuous operational support from the program office. Track the status of each of the program’s components and related issues and responding to general inquiries for information; Participate in the development and maintenance of management systems and procedures to ensure efficiency, accountability and good working relationships with donors, sub grantees, government, FH partners and beneficiaries; Ensure the Health, Nutrition and BCC Programs are well integrated with the other program components; Ensure programs are addressing social, mental, physical and spiritual needs of beneficiaries.
• Key Result Area #2 - Monitoring and Evaluation 30%
Ensure proper monitoring and Evaluation tools pertaining to the health, nutriton and BCC program are in place; Ensure Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E) and formative research tools described in the SSHINE MYAP (the Local Determinants of Malnutrition study, Barrier Analysis, and Mini-KPCs) are carried out; Ensure that evaluations are carried out and appropriate corrective/preventative actions are implemented; Participate in M&E activities for Health, Nutrition and BCC program such as assessments, baseline surveys, maintenance of Health Management Information Systems, design of project log frames and M&E tools and performance measurement plans, and oversight on monitoring and evaluation activities; Participate in monthly management and monitoring meetings, review of activity reports, preparation of progress reports, and periodic program reviews.
• Key Result Area #3 - Program Development, Strategy and Management 10%
Initiate and manage the development of new complementing health and nutrition programs. Ensure that all relevant parties are contributing to the process and that the necessary approvals are obtained; Ensure FH Sudan health and Nutrition program strategy is evaluated and updated annually in order to ensure programs are linked into long term planning and development of Southern Sudan and into the FH Sudan overall strategy; Contribute to general management issues of FH Sudan and direct manage the Health and Nutrition Program in accordance with FH’s values and vision.
• Key Result Area #4 -Staff Development, training and management 10%
In consultation with the Human Resource Department and Area Program Officers, participate in sourcing, deployment and performance management of staff working in health nutriton and BCC Program; Promote cross functional teamwork through day to day management, training and capacity building and promote well being and personal development of staff.
• Key Result Area #5 -Coordination and representation 10%
Represent FH Sudan health and nutrition programs to the Government, UN, NGO’s and other parties; Ensure FH's health and nutrition program activities are registered and well coordinated with the relevant government and non government actors; Monitor the social, economic, political, religious and environmental conditions and report and recommend action on such conditions.
