We are seeking an experienced Finance Administrator to join our Africa team in Nairobi. The person appointed will be responsible for ensuring the efficient and transparent management of finances in line with recognised accounting/auditing standards and Saferworld procedures.
Title: Finance Administrator
Contract: Four months maximum (Maternity cover)
Purpose: To manage a transparent financial management system.
Location: Nairobi
Hours: Negotiable
Line Manager: Administrator
Key Relationships: Financial Controller, Head of Africa programme; programme staff
Roles and Responsibilities
Manage a transparent financial management system, using accepted book-keeping principles.
Maintain computerised accounting records
Prepare monthly management reports for Africa team and Financial Controller in head office.
Maintain accurate accounting records for annual audit.
Monthly reconciliation of bank statements.
Managing payments and receipts, cash handling and accountability for floats
Monitor and liaise with staff and other organisations to ensure that financial receipts and payments are accurate, timely and appropriately handled.
Ensuring programme staff are kept informed in all relevant financial issues.
Management of monthly payroll and statutory compliance (monthly and annual).
Liaising with programme staff to forecast expenditure against cashflow and request funds from head office.
Preparation of donor financial reports, in accordance requirements of donors.
Assist with the preparation of Africa team cashflow, and monitoring expenditure against budget.
Person Specification
A recognised accounting qualification (CPA or ACCA)
A basic degree (Economics / Accounting / Finance or Business Administration) or compensating relevant work experience.
2 years experience in financial management/administration ideally within an non-governmental organisation (NGO)
Experience of computerised accounting software (QuickBooks or Sage)
Experience of donor reporting ideally within the NGO sector
Experience of analysing financial information
Terms and Conditions:
