Area Coordinator

24 month contract To start 1 July 11

Tearfund is looking for an experienced Area Coordinator to manage our rehabilitation projects in Baraka, DR Congo. Tearfund is implementing a number of donor funded projects in Food Security and WASH sectors, and the Area Coordinator is responsible for the successful implementation of these projects. The successful candidate will have relevant humanitarian experience plus proven management and leadership skills, coupled with experience in project and financial management. Responsibilities also include regular coordination within the UN Cluster and with other NGOs and Govt departments, and in collaboration with the Deputy Programme Director, the writing of donor proposals and reports. Excellent written and spoken English is essential, though spoken French or Swahili is desirable.

The candidate must also be able to work in potentially insecure environments, with remote supervision, to tight timeframes. Applicants must be committed to Tearfund’s Christian beliefs. All posts involve potential contact with children and the recruitment process will include specific checks related to child protection issues.

Salary: £28,126 per annum
