Background:
EQUIP-Tanzania is an ambitious
four-year DFID-funded programme delivered by the Government of Tanzania and
supported by the EQUIP-Tanzania Managing Agent (Cambridge Education, IRC and
KPMG) to improve learning outcomes for children, particularly for girls, across
the country. EQUIP-Tanzania’s various
interventions are designed to improve learning outcomes for students by helping
drive improvements in: training and performance of teachers; school leadership;
planning and management of education at the regional, district and ward levels;
community participation in education; and information and accountability
IRC seeks to recruit qualified, energetic and committed
candidates to fill the following position
Position: Driver (1)
Location: Kigoma, Tanzania
Reporting
to: Operation Officer
Key
Responsibilities,
a.
Drive Equip – T vehicles
as instructed and allocated
b.
Responsible for
general cleanness and maintenance of the vehicle allocated
c.
Ensure allocated
vehicle has valid insurance and road license, inform supervisor one month prior
to expiration
d.
Ensure that
vehicle logbooks are filled in before and after journeys
e.
Undertake a daily
check – nuts & bolts, fuel, oil, brake fluid, hydraulic fluid, jack, spare
wheel, spanner, communications equipment etc.
f.
Undertake a
weekly check, focusing on chassis, nuts & bolts, body panels, windscreen
wiper washing fluid, lights [head & brake/reverse], indicators, license
plate light, windscreen wipers etc.
g.
Participate fully
in the vehicle servicing process when due in collaboration with the Mechanics.
h.
Report daily to
Operation Officer for briefings on the day’s duty.
i.
Ensure that the
vehicle is timely refueled to avoid inconveniences.
j.
Return the
vehicle keys to the designated official
and place
k.
Providing a
courteous and efficient service to all internal and external customers, being a
valuable first point of contact for visitors.
l.
Driving carefully
and safely at all times in line with international driving standards and
ensuring that your passengers in your care are safe
m. Performing daily vehicle checks and reporting on
maintenance needs.
n.
Ensuring vehicle
reports are approved and accurate records of mileage, fuel and maintenance
costs are updated and made available to supervisors.
o.
Establish
excellent working relationships with all staff within the organization
p.
Being available
to undertake missions outside of standard working hours in case of emergencies,
in some instances in other provinces.
q.
Preparing journey plans by gathering adequate
knowledge of the destination and route to ensure customers arrive in good time
r.
Maintaining a
professional appearance at all times
Qualifications:
·
Form IV Certificate with clean
Driving License Class C and/or Advanced Driver Course Grade II from recognized institute, with five years driving
experience.
·
Be
an excellent communicator, fluent in English and Kiswahili
·
Have
worked within a multi-national team or project environment
·
Possess
excellent knowledge of the city and motorways in Tanzania
·
Certified
professional driving training (desirable)
·
Demonstrable
defensive driving skills along with basic routine vehicle maintenance
·
Significant
professional driving experience.
