Mwalimu Commercial Bank PLC (MCB) (In-Formation) is a newly licensed commercial bank by the Bank of Tanzania, and is in its 'final stages of setting up operations. The major shareholders of the bank include Tanzania Teachers' Union (TTU), Public Service Pension Funds (PSPF) and National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF). Manager, Legal(1 Post)

Job Summary:
Reporting to the Head of Legal, the Legal Manager is responsible to provide advice to the Management on all legal matters pertaining to the Bank.

Key Responsibilities:
Shall include but not limited to the following:
To assist in coordinating matters pertaining to the administration of the Board of Directors' affairs, appointments, meetings and all related issues as required
To check all legal issues pertaining to loan applications before, during and after approval to ensure the Bank's interests are safeguarded;
To establish custody of legal documents and instruments of the Bank;
Manage litigations for/against the Bank including external lawyers involved in litigations as well as reviewing, analyzing and interpreting laws, regulations and judicial decisions;
Advice the relevant departments on the perfection of securities and documentation as well as managing the annual securities audits and advise on the remedial process;'
Offer support to the credit recovery function of the Bank in order to foster effective management of regulatory and litigation risk In the recovery on non-performing loans;
Perform any other duties as assigned by the CEO/Head of Legal from time to time.

Minimum Qualifications:
- University Degree or equivalent qualification in Law;
- An Advocate of the High Court of Tanzania is an added advantage;
- Possession of relevant work experience with the Financial Institution of at least seven (7) years, of which five (5) years should be at the senior management level.
