Amref Health Africa is an independent, non-profit, Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) whose mission is "to improve the health of people by partnering with and empowering communities and strengthening health systems". Amref Health Africa has over 500 employees throughout Africa with its headquarters in Nairobi, Kenya. Amref Health Africa-Tanzania is largely supported by Multilateral, Bilateral and National donors, implementing several programmes including HIV/AIDSITB/Malaria, Reproductive, Maternal, Newborn and Child Health, Water and sanitation, capacity building and clinical outreach.
Amref Health Africa with its partner Legal Human Right Centre (LHRC) have received funds from UN Women through the UN Trust Fund to implement a three year project on Female Genital Mutilation Elimination (Tokomeza Ukeketaji) in Serengeti district, Mara region.
Also, Amref Health Africa has received funding from the Government of Canada under "Partnership initiatives to Strengthen Maternal New- born and Child Health (PS-MNCH) in developing countries. This is a five year project to be implemented in two districts in Geita region (Geita DC and Nyang'wale).

Project Accountant: PS-MNCH (DFATD) Based in Mwanza
Reports to: Finance Manager
JOB OBJECTIVE:
Providing Management Accounting guidance and support to the program, in overseeing and guiding activities of program to ensure that their objectives are met.
Monitoring /tracking the implementation status throughout the program life cycle.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:-
Providing support to the Programme Manager and other Amref Health Africa Projects in Tanzania Country Office on:
Ensuring budgeting planning preparation are according to Amref Health Africa Policies and Procedures.
To prepare all Donors financial reports and call down request as specified in respective grant agreement.
Ensuring all financial donor reports are submitted timely
Income &Expenditures Monitoring
Processing, approval and coding of expenditures i.e. claims, imprest surrenders, field office returns, purchase requisitions and approved according to donor budget
Ensuring timely and accurate budget &plan preparation to all partners/sub-grantees which include;
Call for budget from all Partners/sub grantees.
Receiving budget draft from all partners/sub-grantees
Reviewing all budgets.
Compile budget reports.
Send to Finance Manager and Programme Manager for review/comment.
Ensuring budget and expenditure verification exercise is conducted to all partners/sub grantees which include;
Receiving budget proposal from sub-grantees.
Reviewing and screening.
Training /Capacity building on financial management and technical advice.
Fund disbursement.
To build capacity of sub grantees to be able to manage the programme on financial management to include the following;
Identifying the training needs
Conducting training
Providing on-sight support and site visit
Reviewing and approval of financial report from other institution (sub grantees) participating in the project.
Ensuring timely and accurately, Key-in of all finance
Vouchers, in the sun system
QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE:-
First degree in accounting with 2 year experience in the NGOs
Adequate experience and expertise in financial/grant management
Computer literate, knowledge of Sun Accounting Systems
Good interpersonal skills
