Organizational Setting and Reporting
The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) is the United Nations system's designated entity for addressing environmental issues at the global and regional level. Its mandate is to coordinate the development of environmental policy consensus by keeping the global environment under review and bringing emerging issues to the attention of governments and the international community for action.
The UNEP Convention on Biological Diversity, Forest, REDD+ and Restoration internship is for 3-6 months .The Internship is UNPAID and full-time.Interns work five days per week (35 hours) under the supervision of a staff member in the department or office to which they are assigned.
Responsibilities
Daily responsibilities will depend on the individual's background; the intern's assigned office as well as the internship period.
Under the direct supervision of Programme officer on forest biodiversity, the intern will
  • Research and assist in preparing meeting reports on forest related topics;
  • Assist in the preparation of outreach products for workshops and other relevant meetings;
  • Assist in the compilation of data to track progress towards Aichi Biodiversity Targets 5, 7 and 15 and other relevant targets; and
  • Assist in the compilation of country case studies for a review of literature on forest governance and implementation of an integrated approach for Aichi Biodiversity Targets.
