Engineer, Core Network Planning and support

Co-ordinate and provide planning/ design inputs of the core network architecture, features and services, Oversee overall governance of contractual execution of core Network operation, maintenance and optimisation of Core Network.

  1. Co-ordinate and provide planning and control of initiatives, investment, capacity expansion of the core network nodes:

  • Using commercial department forecasted subscriber base , to forecast required core network soft and hard capacities
  • Establish OPCO typical mix of traffic per subscriber
  • Build and enhance tools for traffic and Network Element calculation
  • Monitor route utilisation to provide forecasts aimed at providing head room to control route congestion.
  • Support in development and execution of core network operational, expansion and evolution
  • Provision of POI(Point of interconnection) information to Interconnections partners to facilitate interconnection implementations
  • Participate in initiatives aimed at optimising core network CAPEX and OPEX in collaboration Optimisation Team of Managed service partner.
  • MSC/HLR/STP/MGW and other related node features and services optimisation and capacity management

  1. Provide Quarterly NCP(Network change plan ) including the any design changes forecasted on the core network:
  • Provide BOQ output in liaison with the Managed capacity Vendor or Core equipment vendor.
  • Following up extensions and Installation of core Network nodes.
  • Participate in commissioning of MSC/HLR/STP/MGW and other core nodes.
  • Ensure that all new MSC/HLR/STP/MGW and other core nodes implementations are documented, maintain MSC/HLR/STP/MGW specific documentation including:
    • Updating, maintaining  and classifying Engineering documents and technical specifications (Translation tables, network signalling/trunk diagrams, core network LLD & HLD, Interconnection with other PLMN, VAS , IN and third party equipments , DDF mapping and specs, naming rules)
    • Record all core network projects in project folders (specs, schedules, minutes, documentations...)
    • Keep log of quarterly  network changes effected on Core network nodes
  • Observation of KPI as a pro-active measure to prevent service degradation and most specifically after network interventions
  • Routine monitoring and auditing of core network configuration maintained by the Managed Services Partner and report any anomalies.
  • Support to establishment of Key Performance Indicators KPI for core nodes
  • Support to Marketing department on new services development.

  1. Assist in Governance of the core Network changes:

  • Assist in core network projects
  • Propose and participate in network Integration of Switching core Network Elements and Circuit Switched services
  • Evaluation of Network and Service implications prior integration of new Circuit switches, extensions on core nodes or node service releases
  • Co-ordinations of implementations of products/specification documents from Marketing

Desired Skills and Experience

  • University Degree in telecommunications or equivalent
  • Minimum of 5 years working experience in the Telecommunications sector.
  • Able to operate in a performance driven organization
  • Experience in use of Microsoft Office suite of applications

Engineer, IN Planning and support

Develops and provide planning/ design of the IN network capacity, features and services. Plans High Level Bill of Quantity for design & planning and works towards planning Network Change Plan

Design & Planning of IN system:

  1. Co-ordinate and provide planning and control of initiatives, investment, capacity expansion of IN nodes:

  • Using commercial forecasted subscriber base, to forecast required IN soft and hard capacities
  • Establish OPCO typical mix of traffic per subscriber
  • Build and enhance tools for traffic and Network Element calculation
  • Monitor end to end utilisation to provide forecasts aimed at providing head room to control route congestion.
  • Support in development and execution of IN operations, expansion and evolution
  • Participate in initiatives aimed at optimising core network CAPEX and OPEX in collaboration Optimisation Team of Managed service partner.
  • Set-up and monitor Key Input & Output KPIs for IN networks
  • Maintain & ensure updated DLD of OpCos

  • Ensure planning for 99.99% reliability and redundancy in the IN network; Institute a robust quality improvement plan as well as a Business Continuity Plan.
  • Deliver a long-term Network Deployment strategy with the objective of improving Capex Productivity, introducing new technology & best service quality provider with most cost efficient design in the world.

  • Participate in UAT and FNI of features as well as HW/SW of PS Core & IP Core nodes.
  • Ensure that all new nodes under domain are documented and comply to Bharti Information security policy
    • LLD & HLD, CCRs maintenance
    • Keep log of quarterly  network changes effected on Core network nodes
  • Observation of KPI as a pro-active measure to prevent service degradation, capacity chocking and most specifically after network interventions. Always ensure sufficient headroom is available for HW and SW capacities
  • Auditing of core network configuration maintained by the Managed Services Partner and report any anomalies.
  • Support to establishment of Key Performance Indicators KPI for nodes
Support Innovation delivery in IN prepaid product & services
  • Support collection of business inputs, technical utilization trends and forecast.
  • Support collaboration across all business units within the value chain.
  • Support to evaluate and implement all world class system possibilities & standardization to rollout world class products at lowest possible cost to achieve customer delight and ensuring +1 experience than competition at all times.
  • Support delivery of Customer Experience and expectations in every OpCo to meet Network & Brand perception benchmarks as evaluated time to time through independent agencies

  1. Assist in Governance of the core Network changes:

  • Co-ordinations of implementations of products/specification documents from Marketing
  • Assist in RFP formulation and long term strategy of PS Core & IP Core.

Desired Skills and Experience

  • Knowledge of 3GPP standards; CAMEL, Gy, Gx, Sy. Charging mechanisms for emerging technologies: IMS, LTE, VoLTE, M2M.Data charging and policy control.
  • Sound knowledge of system architecture, Optimization and/or O&M.
  • Experience on IN network planning and in designing IN system architecture. Formulate AOP planning of IN for all the OpCos.
  • Experience and proficiency in real-time charging, policy management, customer relationship management, mediation & provisioning system (preferably Ericsson & Huawei systems) Understanding of operational and maintenance issues related to IN systems.

    Strong understanding of IN components integration with other systems (Billing, mediation, provisioning, Core, Packet core etc.).
    • Billing & Charging domain expert
